| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 3, 2008 Bottle. Strong roasted malt aroma backed by floral notes. Dark coppery color with a good whitish head that even laced a trifle. Medium body with very mild carbonation. Flavor is roasted caramel with herbal or floral hop to balance. It’s not as raw as many "reds", and the unusual hop goes well with the malt. Finish is a bit watery, but dry, and lightly bitter. Seems a decent session beer. WillieV (191), Maryland, USA

Aroma of caramel and ripe apples. Dark caramel flavor, leading to some roasted malt and nutty bitterness later (too much for me); it’s quite dry. Simple. stouby (1944), Holbaek, Denmark

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 3, 2008 Pours a dark brown that is clear and shows some firm ruby tints to it when held to light. Nice crème head. Nose is nice levels of wood. Flavor is bitter but also has a unique earthy/woody tone to it. Lots of malts on there too. Feel has a good carbonation that gives a slight bite to it. Liquid is well bodied. A good drinker. Nice body, even and interesting flavor. Won’t go down as the greatest ever of the style, but still good enough to give a try. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 3, 2008 Bottle. High fluffy but lasting off-white head. Clear dark red brown body. Complex aroma of cocoa coffee and some spices I annot quite figure out. Hops spices dominated flavor with low carbonation and a long dry bitter aftertaste. BigMilly8 (376), Holiday, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 28, 2008 From bottle : Pours a clear dark ruby color, with minimal head..a small white ring forms around the edges of the glass. Decent lacing. Nose is fruity, and malty. Small hints of hops present themselves, with notes of alcohol. Taste is sweet up front with some fruityness, then dives into blandness on the backside, it is smooth but watery on the end. Medium body, nothing special here.
