Commercial Description:
Available filtered in 330ml bottles.
"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as ’Satiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkable’."

dark red with a delightful creamy head. subtle sent of fruit slight taste of hops with citrus flavor. nice drink but not memorable on the palate. The high ABV is well hidden. Pleasant and probably great for a summer brew.

From bottle. Rich fruity aroma, hin tof cherries. Ruby colour with a thin lace. Hazy appearance. Initially the beer has a rich and smooth texture with strawberries. Later turns to a quite bitter texture with hint of spices. Warm on the palette. Tangy malt.

[1928-20081225] 330mL bottle. Roasted raisins and some dark fruits in the aroma with lots of rich boozy yeast. Slightly hazy, dark amber body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Sweet toasted malt flavour with a heavy rich yeast background. Medium-full body. Nice, fairly complex but balanced.

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.5%. Dark ruby coloured beer, low off-white head. Nice vinous aroma with notes of dark dried fruits, hints of oak. The flavour is rich, sweet and malty, notes of figs and molasses. Spicy hops and nuts in the finish. Not quite as complex as the cask version, but still a good beer.

Pours a rich ruby brown colour. Small off white head. Sweet strong fruity aroma. Thin to medium bodied. Rich malty, dark fruit, spicy flavours. Alcohol detectable in flavour. A strong tasting ale. Pretty good. 8.5% ABV. Bottle.

Bottle thanks to machfive55. Pours a ruby brown color with a small white head. A super sweet nose of caramel, musty malts, fruit and some brown sugar. The flavor is similar; dominated by a rich caramel malt, a interestingly dry and fruity malt profile, some light alcohol and sweet sugary notes. Not too sweet though, and quite nice. The Orkney malt profile is nice.

Purs medium red-brown with short-lived white head. Malty nose with a strong, sweet, sour fruitiness and spice on the end. Toasty, sweet malt flavor with dark fruit and some alcohol. Finishes pleasantly dry with a touch of alcoholic tingle. Not particularly thick, but smooth and balanced. Tasty.

Dark ruby pour with large off-white head that fades quickly. Toasty malts, almost roasted, dominate the aroma, with some sweet figs and spices coming through later. Rick roasted malt on taste. High alcohol content certainly makes its presence known in a lingering finish. Alcohol heat can be felt on the palate for a long period. Satiny smooth though. Alcohol is too dominant!
