Commercial Description:
Available filtered in 330ml bottles.
"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as ’Satiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkable’."

Ruby-mahogany, large beige head. Nose of cranberry, barrel-sweetness, and nuts. Flavor has some alcohol, sugar, dried fruit, smoke, peat... great combination. Finishes with some toast, alcohol, and a very pleasant walnut note. Very nice beer, mellow yet complex and complimentary.

Bottled(330ml). -Dark amber coloured, medium sized cappuccino head, sweet malty nose with hint of fruit. Strong malty, dark fruits and slight chocolate taste with notes of wood and spices. Pleasant fruity alcoholic finish.

11.2oz bottle. pours deep dark reddish brown, aroma of caramel, dark fruit. Nice harsh mouthfeel stinging the palate a bit. Small sweet aftertaste, disappears quickly, dry, alcohol very evident. a good brew.

Orange-brown with lots of floaters. Little head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and caramel. The flavor is similar, with notes of the toffee that grandma used to make. Very malty, but fresh, with chocolate.

Hazy red-brown with two fingers of off white head. Floral and fruity aroma, caramel. Taste is big caramel, some apples, brown sugar, very sweet bordering on slick or cloying.

Bottle at The Penguin’s Arms, back to back with Stone Smoked Porter. Dessert sweet but not oppressive aroma swilling with ripe figgy fruit, vanilla pod, apple strudel and custard, toffee. Some seriously noseable apple, raisin and nutmeg spiciness in there with a yeastiness not unlike White Shield. Squeeze of old sock. Straight away I like this more than the Stone. Glinting ruby with a heavy beige lid climbing up the sides of the tulip. Mouth can’t quite match that but has a go with warm figgy toffee malt sweetness, the same again, alcohol, raisin, oak and vanilla. Some soapy bitter orange hints, hop or yeast-derived, caramel, chestnut, nuts, dab of dankness. Thick and fruity but unsticky with a dip of liquorice parting bitterness. Tasty, rounded, full-bodied BW.

Dark Red/Amber in color. Originally purchased because it was toted with the word bacon in the title. I figured I couldn’t go wrong with bacon. A pretty decent beer.
