Aroma is vinous with noticeable malt characteristics as well. Taste is the same, with a slight alcohol burn at the end. AdamGott (190), Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 29, 2008 overly sweet for my taste as most foreign specialty beers seem to be - I like a better balance with the hops 502Flavors (631), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 24, 2008 12 oz bottle into a shaker. Pours rich hazelnut brown with a dirty light brown head with a bit too much carbonation IMO. Aroma is doughy and malty with some hops and citrus. The flavor is simpler than the more complex aroma. But, it is very tasty and malty and very much within the style - the alcohol is hidden unbelievably well. Almost chewy on the palate, but a bit thinner than the abv., aroma, and malty style might suggest. Overall: overpriced here at 11 dollars a 4 pack, but very good and worth trying if you can find a single (I got one for 3 dollars). Hudspart (374), Hudsonville, Michigan, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 8, 2008 Clear amber, short-lived head. Toffee, bourbon-barrel palate and aroma, woody finish. No real peatiness or smokiness in my experience, contrary to many raters here. Just okay I guess. KimJohansen (7205), Copenhagen V, Denmark

Sweet aroma with notes of caramel, ripe fruits and roasted malt. Sweet flavor with notes of caramel, ripe fruits and caramel. Ends sweet. EHopper (348), Minnesota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 2, 2008 Clear, copper color with beige foam. Has a little of that pear-banana baby food smell I am used to in this type of ale. Malty and fruity with a spicy alcohol finish. O.K., but not really worth another go. Bit smoky Dark dried fruits and hops are present in the flavour as well with notes of prunes, figs, dates, spices and herbs. .The mouthfeel is syrupy, round and clean.
