Orange with a beige head. Aroma heavy malty (caramel, brown sugar, oak, light chocolate notes). Flavor heavy sweet, light bitter. Oily, the strength is felt! smith4498 (952), Miami, Florida, USA

Full bodied and creamy that goes down pretty smooth. A little too sweet for my taste but a decent barley wine. I would probably drink this one again. Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA

Clear dark brown with red highlights. Flavor began as candied sugar and burnt ash. Mellowed as it warmed. Nice rich sweet flavor with a healthy smokiness. Not as full bodied or thick as the better scottish ales, but enjoyable brew nonethelessb joeyv120 (16), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jan 28, 2008 Beautiful amber color with a nice creamy head, and a rich malt flavor. Unsuspectingly smooth. My wife and I frequent sushi restaurants, and something about this beer reminds me of sake; of course maybe it’s all in the barely wine, it’s the first I’ve had. BeerGear (14), Hilton, New York, USA

Finish is smooth without an overbearing alcohol presence. Rich and smooth without a strong hop presence. No metallic taste. A quality beer. ekstedt (2456), Göteborg, Sweden
