Commercial Description:
Available filtered in 330ml bottles.
"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as ’Satiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkable’."

Tasting at Three Cellars. Not what i had expected. Full and creamy that goes down pretty smooth. Not as thick as the better scottish ales

Bottle at No. 5. Orange with a beige head. Aroma heavy malty (caramel, brown sugar, oak, light chocolate notes). Flavor heavy sweet, light bitter. Oily, the strength is felt!

Dark orangish red color wth a minimal tan head. Sweet malty caramel aroma. Full bodied and creamy that goes down pretty smooth. A little too sweet for my taste but a decent barley wine. I would probably drink this one again.

July 2006 - Very decent. Single finger tan head disappeared as soon as I looked away. Clear dark brown with red highlights. Flavor began as candied sugar and burnt ash. Mellowed as it warmed. Nice rich sweet flavor with a healthy smokiness. Not as full bodied or thick as the better scottish ales, but enjoyable brew nonethelessb

Beautiful amber color with a nice creamy head, and a rich malt flavor. Unsuspectingly smooth. My wife and I frequent sushi restaurants, and something about this beer reminds me of sake; of course maybe it’s all in the barely wine, it’s the first I’ve had.

Pours a dark copper with minimal head. Caramel flavor with hint of raison - in a good way. Finish is smooth without an overbearing alcohol presence. Rich and smooth without a strong hop presence. No metallic taste. A quality beer.

Bottle (50 cl) at Bishops Arms, Järntorget, Göteborg, Sweden. Deep copper with a medium creamy beige head. Soft fruity malt aroma with figs and molasses, and some faint spicy notes. Soft mouthfeel. Neither sweet nor bitter, strangely enough.

Strong smell of alcohol when the bottle was opened. A fruity malt flavor that goes down smooth.
