| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Ruby red to dark orange in color with a creamy head leaving some lacing. Strong toffee and caramel smell and even a bit of ripe fruit. Taste pretty much mimics the smell but I like the taste better than the smell. Medium to full body, with an average carbonation, creamy and smooth. Pretty drinkable, I’d probably have another. Erdinger2003 (127), Ames, Iowa, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 23, 2007 I poured the beer a little harsh so the top of the original head has a little stuck lacing, looks pretty good. The color is dark brown.
Smell is sweet caramel with apple cinnamon/metalic scent with burnt sugar.
The taste is sweet caramel with soft fruit tones like apple.
The mouthfeel is enjoyable, not great, but enjoyable.
The drinkability is fine, if I could find more I would have more. badlizard (2345), Berkeley, California, USA

Aroma of caramel, sugar, and grapes. Satiny smooth palate, as advertised. Taste commensurate with aroma. Decent. ilovedarkbeer (1343), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 19, 2007 Was surprised to find out this one was a barley wine. Pours a dark brown color with amber lacing and a big puffy head. Smells of raisens, dark fruit, sugar, and malt. Taste is about the same. Reminds me more of a belgian ale more specifically raisen d’etre from DFH. Really nice beer and an intersting take on the barley wine. DrPiva (90), Alabama, USA

A long lasting finish, and a good warmth due to the high alchohol % (8.5%). Highly recommended in my opinion. Quietman (160), Florida, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 9, 2007 Very fruity aroma with a little bit of a musty smell. The flavor is very light wine taste, almost like a wine cooler. A little bit of burnt caramel and a fruit flavor that i can’t put my finger on.
