Commercial Description:
Available filtered in 330ml bottles.
"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as ’Satiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkable’."

Aroma is complex, with fruits and malts both very powerful. Taste is the same. Very fruity and floral, but a hint of something like raisins. Notes of caramel. Interesting, with a relatively light mouthfeel for a barley wine. Alcohol is not too apparent for 8.5%. Really very good.

Bottle. Small white head into slightly sparkling brown body. Aromas of pear, strong vinousness, and malts. Satin mouthfeel that is advertised is correct. But I must confess if I didn’t read that this was a barely wine I would have guessed wrong. Still a good beer.

11.2 oz. bottle. pours a clear brown with a decent khaki head and spotty lacing. aroma is mostly grainy malt with some caramel. flavor is pretty mild for a BW, with caramel, brown sugar and alcohol that is only slightly apparent. enjoyable brew.

12 oz. Bottle at Waldo Pizza, Kansas City, MO. Pour is a deep red / brown with almost no head. Aroma is a big, roast, caramel sweet malt. The taste is more of the malt, though the sweetness is more subdued than I would have guessed. Overall, a nicely done Barley wine.

Bottle. Deep copper to brown pour. Rich malty aroma and flavor with a good amount of residual sweetness. Alcohol is well-disguised, but it can definitely be a skull-splitter as easily as it goes down. Good scottish beer.

Bottle. Red pour, very smooth. Heavy in aromas. Nice alchohol content, not overwhelming.

Intense aroma, huge caramel, smoke, vanilla. Pours a dark amber/brown. Smooth flavor. Surprisingly light, at 8.5% this is very dangerous. Easy to drink.

Pours a clear reddish brown with a small white head. Smells a little fruity with a big malty backbone. The taste is slightly syrupy, with a good dose of cinnamon and brown sugar. Its actually quite a sweet beer, but finishes pretty crisp and clean. A nice beer to have one and done with. i wouldnt want a whole 4 pack of this. The alcochol is actually pretty noticeable in the finish. The aftertaste is malts and sugar.
