Commercial Description:
Available filtered in 330ml bottles.
"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as ’Satiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkable’."

Not nearly as strong tasting a I had anticipated. Beautiful amber brew with a sweet, malty, berry taste. Somewhat syrupy on the palate with perfect carbonation. Very good.

I did not realize this was suppose to be a Barley Wine. Tastes more like a strong Scottish ale. Malty without being too sweet. Some dried dark fruit. Slightly woody with hints of smoke in the finish. Very smooth. Overall pretty decent but the mouthfeel was a tad watery. ABV well hidden.

Nice amber color. Average barley wine. Went down smooth. Was expecting worse based on name but not bad

Amber color. Toasted malt aroma and flavor. Light on hops. No better than many American barley wines.

(33 cl bottle at Delirium Café, Göteborg) Dark red brown color, small tan head. Fruity, alcohol and apricot scent. Lots of dried fruits. Smooth nice mouthfeel. Long dried fruits and roasted malt mixed with chocolate aftertaste. Fruity, chocolate, roasted malt, rubber taste. Dry vanilla oak and wood aftertaste.

Poured a clear deep cherry wood color with a medium off-white head. Sweet, malty and fruity. Caramel, sugar, and chocolate. Sweet and fruity flavor with some sugar and chocolate as well. Some smokey notes. Full bodied. Mild to moderate bitter finish with some alcohol warmth.

My skull wasn’t split but this is a nice example of a Scottish Ale. Bought this at Kensington Wine Market here in Calgary. Page 347 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 303 0f his 500 Classic Brews to go.

Bottle. Pours copper/amber. Aroma is pretty mild with some watery malts. Taste is much stronger. Very malty, chocolate, bitter. Strong and flavorful. I enjoyed it.
