Commercial Description:
Available filtered in 330ml bottles.
"Named after Thorfin Hausakliuuf, the seventh earl of Orkney, this reddish coloured ale has an intense vinous nose, is rich and satiny in the mouth with a long dry finish and deep rich fruity notes. Described as ’Satiny smooth in the mouth, deceptively light and dangerously drinkable’."

Poured a clear deep cherry wood color with a medium off-white head. Sweet, malty and fruity. Caramel, sugar, and chocolate. Sweet and fruity flavor with some sugar and chocolate as well. Some smokey notes. Full bodied. Mild to moderate bitter finish with some alcohol warmth.

My skull wasn’t split but this is a nice example of a Scottish Ale. Bought this at Kensington Wine Market here in Calgary. Page 347 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 303 0f his 500 Classic Brews to go.

Bottle. Pours copper/amber. Aroma is pretty mild with some watery malts. Taste is much stronger. Very malty, chocolate, bitter. Strong and flavorful. I enjoyed it.

Very nice surprise...a big, flavorful barley wine, with a nice managable ABV that doesn’t lay you low, or make you forget where you parked the car. Big sweet malt base...caramel and dried fruits, coupled with a deep, rich smoky, peaty, roasty note that anchors the whole drink nicely. I really enjoyed this brew greatly!

Pours a dark red color with a 2 finger off white head. Fruity aroma. Flavors are sweet with a hint of smokiness. As it warms the fruits are more apparent. Well balanced. A very unique but very tasty ale.

Bottle. Dark brown and a creamy head. Malty aroma with hints of caramel. Sweet taste with good malt flavor, no bitter bite. A hearty ale and not too heavy like other brandy wines. If its heavy gravity 8.5% I cant taste it. Well done.

Sweet but smoky flavor. Nice smooth body, and the strength of the alcohol doesn’t affect the flavor. A very good beer.
