Had a great raisin/plum flavor note, but the the aroma was quite subtle. The lack of hop character was this beers’ only flaw. Cheers! Duhast500 (201), , Massachusetts, USA

The color is a dark brown or black with a dark cherry or maroon hue when held to the light. Has a slight brownish white head.
The smell is a bit heavy with caramel and some dark fruit flavor, some raspberry flavor.
The taste is of a sweet malty flavor with some raisin flavor and a bit of a spicy, smokey flavor. A hint of caramel and some slight grape flavor.
The feel has a nice medium body and is nicely carbonated. A real nice finish.

It also has a slight alcohol burn to it and a balancing bitterness in the finish. The beer is a clear dark copper color with a lasting, dense beige-colored head that provids average lacing. It also has a medium-full body and a creamy texture.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 23, 2009 0,33 l bottle, ordered from Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam. Nice appearance with a dark copper-reddish body, a delicious, medium creamy tan head. Toasty caramel, sweet malt, fine fruity(raisins, some fig, pear)character and herbal hop in the nose with a bit of spicyness. Rich and oily body with a fruity flavor of raisins and figs, fine toasty maltiness and caramell, strong but well balanced hop- bitterness. Fine and preferable beer! machfive55 (234), Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 23, 2009 Poured clear light brown with 3-finger head. The aroma was sweet and malty with slight hoppiness. The flavor was big with logs of maltiness and a good hop bitterness. There was a thick and grainy palate. Alcohol comes through a little. Overall a good, big beer, nothing great but a solid barley wine. LordCorkscrew (982), Ronco Scrivia (GE), Italy

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 14, 2009 Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of dark bread and caramel, moderate hops of cooked orange, light dough for the yeast and raisin, date and brown sugar in the background. Head is frothy, off-white, with fair spotty lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy red/brown. Flavor starts heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet, acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, oily with a soft carbonation. Smelled good, but the flavor lacked depth in some spots that make a Barley Wine distinct. It was still as good drinker. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 8, 2009 330 ml bottle from Market of Choice. Pours a clear mahogany with a small biscuit head and pretty good lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel malt with raisin, fig and light candy sugar. Flavor is very sweet, caramel, raisins and sugar maybe a little toffee. Mouthfeel very creamy, and the 8.5% alcohol is barely noticable. Solid brew.
