An amber-colored ale with medium head, bordering on a reddish ale. Nose is that of fruit and carmel. Taste is sweet and quite bold. Molasses and sugary, a clearness of peat and smoke, good muscle behind this, but not enough to punch you in the gut. Flavor is sharply defined with caramel, molasses, tobacco. Strong alcohol flavor. Syrupy mouthfeel. Mild bitterness. Good barleywine.
