Rastacouere (5189), Montréal, Quebec, Canada May 4, 2008 Objectively speaking:
A very drinkable pale ale which does not feel as strong as 6.5%, but does not feel quite like an IPA by the modern definition either.
I like:
I was a bit surprised to see this coming from Île d’Orléans. Nice apricot colour, more than fair white head. Light-bodied and gently carbonated.
I dislike:
Obviously aimed at staying very drinkable and avoiding to scare customers away. Rather dull malts which have a clear bready dominance and never evolve anywhere else. Highly simplistic. Timid hops never really going to the front line procuring orange and earth, rather wet flavours and not too much freshness.
Lubiere (3123), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jun 11, 2008 A dark orangey amber IPA with a thick off white head. Floral hops in aroma, restrained and classy, a bit of citrus. In mouth, a good biscuitty malt, light chocolate notes, nuts, floral hops. Very nicely built. MJ_GG (134), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 21, 2008 Bouteille brune de 500 ml. Une IPA très honnête. beerbuzzmontreal (2660), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 12, 2008 Pours a cloudy amber color with a thin beige head. Aroma of earthy hops that feel definitely British, maybe Goldings, and toasted malt. Flavor of earthy hops, toasted malt and mild bitterness in the end. The body is light with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation. This is a decent British style IPA.
