Commercial Description:
A classic dry porter with coffee, toffee and roasty notes in both the aroma and flavor. Black in color with a refreshingly dry finish. Reminiscent of the porters of old before the days of stouts.

this a porter that is a bit too thin for my interest. a little licorice in with an adequate flavor profile of chocolate malt and light hop finish. seemed the bitterness and carbonation were not quite balanced and i found that distracting. nice dark color seemed to enhance the dissapointment.

GABF. Dark pour. Some chocolate on the flavor, but never got it off the aroma. Somewhat difficult to get any aromas. Flavor was watered down too. Not a favorite.

dark brown, wispy beige head, dark chocolate aroma with a touch of sweetness, rich chocolate flavor, nice sweetness brings out the chocolate and gives it a slight milk chocolate character, touch of roasted mixes with a light bitterness for a light bitter finish,

Sampled at the taproom. The best beer these guys do, by far. Dark brown pour with red edges. Smallish mocha colored head. Decent retention and some nice lacing. Nose of espresso beans, coffee grounds, tobacco, cocoa and dark malts. Smells pretty damn good. The taste is a bit disappointing after how good it smells, but it’s still not bad by any stretch. Reminds of a weak cup coffee mixed with hot chocolate. Light to medium bodied, creamy palate. Finish is lengthy, roasted notes all over the place and a sweet milk chocolate ending. I wish they bottled this, I would have brought a few six packs home.

On draft at The Ravenous Pig. Thin looking, dark cola-brown body. A small light tan head quickly dissipates to a wispy film. Minimal, tiny dot lacing noted. The aroma shows dry roasted barley, roasted coffee, and not a whole lot else. The flavor shows primarily bitter coffee, roasted grains and perhaps a little bit of woodsy oak. Medium duration coffee finish. Very thin, weak body for the style. Over- carbonation makes for an unpleasant, fizzy mouthfeel. Dry and roasty throughout. One-dimensional and uninteresting. Not something I would go back to.

On tap at WaZoo. Roasted coffee flavors. Creamy notes of chocolate. I had some with a sampling of tiramisu. It was incredible!

Draft... Clear, very dark (almost black) ale... burnt orange when held up to bright light Small, creamy, off-white head with decent staying power. The aroma and flavor are all about chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Lightly acidic, moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium-bodied and creamy with very mild carbonation. Dry, astringent finish.
