satan165 (541), River Grove, Illinois, USA Sep 7, 2009 color is extremely filtered, translucent amber. aroma is of pine with a 1" retaining head. flavor is of pine and subtle biscuit malt. hops overpower balance but are not offensive. body is a touch thin despite good carb and lacing. some citrus arrives late in flavor as beer opens. far too aggressively hopped (and/or unsuitable strains) and unbalanced for style. kiefdog (1567), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 20, 2009 12oz bottle from Whole Foods (Tampa, FL). Pours a slightly hazy dark amber to brown color with a one finger tan foamy head that settles slowly. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of caramel, nuts, light floral esters, light citrus and pine, some bread, yeast, and honey. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of caramel, nuts, floral hops, light funk. Generally light to medium body with a slightly biting bitter finish. shawnm213 (883), South Bend, Indiana, USA Aug 11, 2009 pours a clear copper with a small white head. fruity, caramel, toast aroma. I liked this. Another beer that works. crisp, distinct flavors. Refreshing. kramer (2406), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 22, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a mostly clear dark amber to copper body with a small fizzy off-white head. The nose is light caramel malt with some toasty notes. Light floral hops and a little bit of a woody character. The hops are rather dull, and maybe a bit stale. Too much caramel and toffee going on for such a light hop bill. It’s just not very smooth. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. Clingy crystal malt finish. Not good, but hot horrible either. unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA May 5, 2009 12oz bottle.
Medium copper color. Tall, foamy white head. Rich malted aroma. Toffee, caramel, and a little toast. Flavor is rich toasted grain. Full palate experience. Finishes with a sharp hop bitterness. A nice balance. Light- medium bodied. Such a happy Florida session beer. Cheers! jkaiser (219), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 27, 2009 This English pale was hoppy with a good balance of malts. This is easy to drink, medium bodied. Good for a beginner to EPAs. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 11, 2009 Tap at FBGF09.
Pours copper with beige head.
Taste was fruity reminded me of raspberry, light mouthfeel with notes of floral hops. Grainy palate with some light malts and dark fruit. Finish was lightly hoppy with some good caramel butterscotch twist.
2 thumbs up. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Feb 17, 2009 Bright amber. Hardly any aroma - vague caramel is about it. Nice, balanced flavour. It’s juicy with citrusy, slightly woody hops. The malts are earthy and caramelly. It’s got a nice caramel finish.
