Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Feb 17, 2009 Has a more overt chocolate character - sort of minerally, tobaccoey single estate stuff. Lots of dark sugars (piloncillo). The body is a bit light, which doesn’t support the sugars effectively. But overall it’s a nice beer. Beershine (2677), Hue, Vietnam Feb 15, 2009 Sample at brewery taproom. Practically opaque black-brown with tan head. Nice robust, textural aroma that includes some raspberry notes. Quaffable and very dry. Lots of malt without being too toasted. Is slightly watery in the body. An interesting beer.
