satan165 (541), River Grove, Illinois, USA Sep 8, 2009 aroma is excessively neutral. soft mouthfeel, low carb, nice head retention and good lacing. flavor is strong porter territory with light fudge coming to the table along with the standard malty nuttiness associated with the style. same note begins to translate to aroma as beer opens. attractive body is cloudy brown. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA May 16, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Pours clear amber with copper edges and tan head. The aroma is syrupy sweet with cherry, roasted malts and molasses. The taste is smooth and sweet heading to syrupy with notes of cherries, malt roastiness and a robust level of syrupy sweet malts and a sense of molasses. Nice finish on this brew with lingering roastiness and fading syrupy sweetness. hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA May 16, 2009 Draft... Clear copper lager with a large, frothy, white head. Sticky lacing. The nose is malty, a touch vinous and very mildly medicinal. Full-bodied with a lightly syrupy mouthfeel and lax carbonation. Sweet caramel and praline in the flavor. Also, hints at chocolate, but not a whole lot. Lengthy, bittersweet finish – bitterness is a bit metallic and lingers longer. jkaiser (212), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 27, 2009 This beer seemed strong near the end of my visit at the brewery. Cool label. Great friendly people working and visiting the place. This beer seemed medium bodied with a good amount of malt. I like this doppelbock. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 27, 2009 Tap @ brewery
pours amber/copper with beige head.
Aroma is bready crust, some caramel and malts.
Taste, caramel, sugary, some dark fruits - cherry/plums - brown sugar, leaving light stickiness on the lips. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Feb 17, 2009 Muddy chestnut colour. Has some nice chocolate notes in the aroma alongside hints of pecan, caramelized apple and brown sugar. Soft body with light fruit and brown sugar. A little bit earthy towards the finish. Beershine (2677), Hue, Vietnam Feb 15, 2009 Sample @ brewery taproom. Luminescent hazy not quite garnet color, no head. Sweet aroma has more fruity esters than the weiss, banana and some spice too. Soft carbonation, thick palate. A little burnt, for a DB especially. Lingering burnt finish dominates the flavors but is nicely dry and malty. redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA Feb 10, 2009 draft @ brewery. Big hop nose, piney hops. Pours a caramelly amber color with a solid white head. Super hoppy? Actually better than the IPAs i tried at the brewery. Piney citrus hops with caramelly hops, a little low on the carbonation side.
