Sweet maltiness with a very off taste to me that borders on bad but not hardly. Very thick solid palate with good carbonation. Not sure this beer was ok I will try it again if I can. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 26, 2008 quality doppelback this brew is slick it is nutty and it is sweet. it goes down quite good and has an alcohol level that is surely around 8%. the alcohol is not at all harsh so please do not let that deter you. a touch of plum and fig rounds it out well. gives it a mild brandy quality to it. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 22, 2008 Draft at the brewery. Pours a clear, dark reddish amber body with a small, foamy, off-white head. Thin, snake like lacing decorates the glass. The aroma is very fruity, with strong notes of plums and figs coming through. Dark caramel compliments the dark fruits well, with hints of chocolate and mild floral hops showing on a deep inhale. The flavor follows suit well, with caramel malts providing a nice backdrop for the plum and fig notes. Floral hops add a nice balance to the taste. Medium bodied and smooth. This is a very enjoyable beer. Certainly one of the best that this brewery has to offer. jcwattsrugger (5563), Florida and, New Jersey, USA
