Aroma is of citrus, a bit of yeast, bubblegum, and a hint of bananas. The aroma is a bit more delicate than I would expect. The flavor is relatively hoppy with quite a bit of citrus. It has a pleasingly long finish, which is sweet, and a bit creamy. AGAquino (95), San Juan, Puerto Rico

Fred82 (403), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Hazy amber/orange with huge thick fluffy head. Not even able to pour the beer completely in the chalice. Yeasty and spicy aroma. finish is quite dry, slight bitterness, a bit citrusy. Quite different from beer to beer. Will add some info with future samples. Rating #90. Rerate 090509. Had a 1 year old bottle (bottled 090529) and it was nicely bretty in aroma and taste. Nothing too hard, just a nice touch of brett. It was my best Orval to date. Still not a huge fan as some are but I like it more and more. Flavor up from 7 to 8. shawnm213 (997), South Bend, Indiana, USA

rerate. 9/2/09. bottled on 4/24/07. aroma of bubblegum, leather, perfume, floral hops, funky sweat, plum, ripe fruit. i could sit there and smell this beer forever. all kinds of stuff goin on.
flavor of bread, raisins, grapefruit. Aroma is much more enjoyable than the flavor. nice dry finish. Aroma score got bumped up 1 point. I’m starting to see the hype. Got a couple more bottles to go though. a lot of tight subtle shit goin on here. this beer is Tight DigitalMan (119), Idaho, USA

The color is beautiful, but the flavor is murkier than I recall, not sure if it’s changed, or if my memory is playing tricks. I’d say this bottle was the beer equivalent of banana bread. Pouring in the sediment seems to make this one sharper rather than smoother. Better without. Birdiebeagle (815), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA

The lasts well and laces great. Has a wonderful sweet aroma. I get fruits, Juicy fruot gum, spices, and some apples. Has a high carbination but it works with a dry beer. The texture is dry. Has some real nice flavors. Very well balanced. Has a good finish. This beer w=eluded me for a while but it is a very good beer. I am glad I had the pleasure of drinking this. markgmeyers (4), Littleton, Colorado, USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Apr 21, 2009 Bottled in 06/2006, drunk on 7/2008
A: Firey orange with a billowing head that lasts the entire experience. Zippy carbonation.
A: Hops & Brett. Grassy noble hops with a sour nose. Wonderful combo, both upfront.
T: Wonderful! Everything that was in the nose was in the flavor along with a wonderful malt flavor. Very bright & drinkable. Great summer beer.
P: Very dry & carbonated, but not bone dry. Still a malty presence while on the tongue. Also a lingering bitterness.
OA: Perfect!
