Commercial Description:
In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.

330ml Bottle served at 12 degrees. Pours with a massive head, copper orange colouring. Lacing down the sides. Hoppy aroma, slight bitter taste almost horsy but very pleasant. an excellent ale to start my ratebeerian tally.

Bottle from Woodys in Franklin, TN. Pours a cloudy amber with a monster white head. Aroma is sweet dark fruits and brown sugar. Flavor is pepper, very slight bitterness, and citrus. Medium-light mouthfeel, pleasantly sticky. Overall I really liked it...definately lived up to the hype...but I gotta say its in the same ballpark as Delirium Tremens and I just dont think it holds up (and neither does Duval).

Bottle, 33cl. Pours an unclear orange/amber beer with a large offwhite head. The aroma is sweet and fruit with notes of spices. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is bitter and has a slight acidic note. Overall a great beer.

Golden amber in color with an incredible amount of carbonation and lacing. Flavor is an interesting balance of sour and bitter that is pleasantly dry on the palate.

Bottled on 22/04/2009, best before 22/04/2014. Poured a brilliant orange with a tall, fluffy, off-white head that is lasting and had good lace. Aromas of spice, citrus, yeast, and fruit. The flavor found spices, fruit, and a light alcohol backing. Medium body, dry, and warming.

Tastes like white wine with light funk, some clove, and a nice mild hoppiness. Crisp, light, but very flavorful. Funky and easy drinking, incredible

Bottle from Keller’s IGA. Pours a nice hazy orange color with a big, fluffy off-white head that laces the glass. Aroma of yeast, ripe fruits, dry hops, orange and grapefruit citrus, bread, banana, floral notes, and alcohol. A lot going on, I needed to keep smelling this one and I picked up on something new every time. The flavor didn’t match the aroma, as it is more alcoholic, bitter, bready, and dry. Also notes of dried fruit, citrus fruits, and farmhouse funk. Medium bodied, somewhat grainy mouthfeel with a citrus bite. Dry, crisp finish. Very interesting, enjoyable beer. I’m going to have to try a couple more of these and revisit the rating and notes.
