Commercial Description:
In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.

Very tall creamy off-white head on an orange body. Beautiful beer! Aroma is not too heavy with notes of fruit, citrus and hops of course! Flavor is very dry and hoppy with fruit and some citrus. A nice and refreshing but quite different beer!

Nice frothy head needs to be poured very gently preferably two or three times without upsetting the sediments. Amber in colour. Great aroma reminds me of mature banana and a slight bubblegumy background. At first impact a nice sweetness biter/spicy hop flavour, yet finished of with a salty flavour reminiscent of sea water beers. Definitely a beer that I will drink again.

Pours a slightly hazy brilliant orange-gold color. Large foamy head. Very strong bouquet; fruity, earthy, yeasty. Palate is very dry and clean w/ ample carbonation, little to no sweetness. Flavor of fresh hops, yeast, wheat malt and grass. Interesting, not my cup of tea but still respectable.

Refrigerated in bottle poured into a Belgium chalice. The taste in general is complex for a lighter colored beer and effervescent. The color is light amber and the head is off white. This beer is well carbonated and has a nice dense fluffy head and good lacing. In particular there is some fruity flavor notes and has a spicy hoppy character.

12 oz bottle from US Liquors. Cloudy brown/yellow color, big foamy head. Yeasty, fruity, almost musty aroma. Flavor is also fruity/yeasty and tart with a dry crisp finish.

330 ml bottle - date of 2-2-08; clear, bright orange with frothy white head lingering; huge nose of floral spice, lemon zest, bananas and pears; delightfully soft texture with nice bretty zing; nothing here is overly aggressive, though you can feel the strength of the brew going down; mild fruit, some brett, full bodied; touch of tart with pears, peach and pineapple; more spice in the nose fir sure; a unique, delicate and subtle brew; very nice and one I should buy more of

bottle - Before all the tomatoes start heading in my direction I tried this beer 3 times before rating thinking it was just me. I just can’t bring myself to really like this beer. The appearance and aroma promise great things, lots of bready spice and citrus notes, but the flavor really killed my expectations, way too bitter (for my taste). In my opinion way overrated, but since I’m a neophyte at rating I’ll try again in the future.
