Aroma has loads of coffee, light peat and some nuts. Flavor is again dominated by coffee and roasted malt with some peat. Good stuff! JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 30, 2009 Sweet, slightly oaky nose. There is a kiss of sweetness in here but without any real coffee character. A bit of muted cocoa and a little bit of dusty, slighlty oxidized malts. There is a whole lot that seems to have gone wrong here. I can’t say I’m a fan of this one. tgncc (811), Bellmore, New York, USA

The appearance is brown/red, off-white head. The flavor is coffee, and a slight sour milk flavor. The finish is roasted coffee. Medium, slightly thin mouthfeel. Creamy coffee, caramel, some smoke and sweetness. Flavor is bright and sweet with some milky coffee and a mild roast with a hint of smoke and cocoa. Nice. PilsnerPeter (2617), Flushing, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 14, 2009 Growler: Deep rusty brownish amber pour with a tan film of head. Mild roast in the aroma- not much coffee character- more dark crystal roast dominates. Rounded carbonation. Coffee is more apparent in the flavor with a rounded malt toasted presence. Simple and quite one dimensional. The coffee really hasn’t added anything unique or subtle, yet it detracted from the base beer by removing some of it’s own nuances. j12601 (1246), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA

Growler courtesy of Joe at Peter’s tasting. Pours a clear brown to black with a crimson hue and a light white head. Malt, almost a touch of coffee. Light coffee and some malt and a nice roast component. Finishes up with a gently sweet caramel note and a touch of espresso and roast. Little bit chocolaty. Makes me want some peanut butter.

Vanilla and coffee in the aroma. Roasty flavor with a medium body that is extremely drinkable. The low carbonation works perfectly for this. Quite dry, lots of coffee, with notes of vanilla and faint high alpha hops. Nice.
