Poured a dark and deep amberish-brown color with a very small sized off white head. Aromas of earthliness, soil, woody, roast, and lighter bourbon. Tastes of vanilla, whiskey, caramel, toffee, woodd, earhty, and chocolate. Light lacing left on the glass. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 12, 2009 I love Old Chub. It is a go to beer for me any season of the year. This one pours dark brown toward black with off-tan head. Nose is dark malt, plum, blackberry, cacao, scotch malt, figgy fruit, oaky bourbon. Tastes malty up front, a hefty scotchy malt coupled with cacao, molasses, and nuts. The id-palate throws some oaky bourbon, mild hops, and vanilla figgy fruit, with a smooth, complex finish. This one got smoother as it warmed, and the fruity earthy oaky notes emerged even stronger. Most beers fade as they warm. This one improved. Outstanding. Ernest (4515), Boulder, Colorado, USA

Body is dark brown.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (nuts, caramel), with notes of bourbon, vanilla, and wood.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Must admit the aging has eliminated some of the subteties and complexities in the plain Chub, and that paired with the fact that I dislike bourbon adds up to a rather disappointing experience. Prefer regular Old Chub. goldtwins (4086), Nesconset, New York, USA

Bourbon and vanilla aroma. Hint of alcohol as well. Sweet vanilla and malty flavor. You can still get some of the base beer. Wasn’t bad but I was expecting a little more. Medium mouthfeel, above average carbonation (I know its a cask). Other casks of Oskar had more complexity. HogTownHarry (4026), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 29, 2009 Draught. At Cole’s Rare Beer Fest, January 2009. Clear deep ruby pour with a small off-white head. Very sweet aroma (Scotch ale and bourbon, who could guess that?) - sweet vanilla, caramel, alcohol, just a hint of floral bitterness, maybe a slight mineral tang as well. The taste, while certainly very sweet, was well-balanced - bourbon and medium-roast malt really work well, and I also got a bit of that "Burton zing" - definitely some iron in there, a bit like a wee heavy - and most interesting of all, I got very strong tangerine acidity in the finish. Light-bodied, sticky, softly carbonated - perhaps a bit quick-finishing, but simple, tasty and good - I’d have this again, but then I like the Gordon a lot already. Good. 7+ Flavor/Palate: oak, slightly woody, acidic with oak chips. Medium full bodied, sticky on lips. Not sure if Old Chub benefited from Bourbon treatment.
