illidurit (851), Santa Cruz, California, USA Dec 10, 2008 12 oz can poured into a nonic. Nice clear copper color, probably too dark to be called pale. Moderate ecru head leaves some sticky lace. Aroma is apples, grapefruit, and caramel. Initial flavor is all hops, with a sharp citrusy bite, followed by a sublime caramel finish which then melds into a residual bitterness. Very robust for a pale ale. Mouthfeel is a little undercarbonated, but the body has a nice heft to it and it‘s very drinkable. Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Dec 7, 2008 On tap. Standard clear copper color with a short white head. Decent lacing. The aroma was light citrus and thin malt. The flavor was malt and earth and light citrus hoppiness. Light, easy drinking body. Not bad, just not anything truly special. GardenGabe (125), Denver, Colorado, USA Nov 30, 2008 I had this in a bar out of a can and I think it was a bit cold. That being said, the hops come across as grapefruit and pine. It is very thin. Even so I thought it was quit refreshing and over all enjoyable. hirigalzkar (550), Stockholm, Sweden Nov 30, 2008 Updated: Mar 19, 2009Can. Hazy orange. Nice long lasting foam. Smells caramel and hops. Has a fresh hop taste to it. Refreshing! Very smooth beer. aplusbreaks (330), , Colorado, USA Nov 29, 2008 12oz can. Pours a orange/amber with a small white head, aggressive pour. Some lacing, not much though. Aromas of hops and malts, pretty basic nose. Flavors are a step up, with a good malt backbone, and a nice hoppy bitter finish. The palate and overall score were both brought down by the lack of carbonation in this beer. puggy211 (576), cordova, Tennessee, USA Nov 28, 2008 Color was a orange with some hints of amber. Lots of malt and hops, just the way a pale ale should be. I loved the clean citrus finish and the bitter aftertaste SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Nov 27, 2008 12oz can. Dark copper with a good head. Hoppy aroma with some pine and citrus. Sweet, caramel laden flavor, with minty and piney hops. Medium bodied. For this amount of alcohol, some more hops would be good, but for a pale, this works out alright. This base could yield a great IPA with more hops though... well, maybe its still a little too sweet. DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Nov 27, 2008 12 ounce can purchased at the Davis Food Co-Op. Aroma has a bit of piney C-hops present along with some crystal maltiness. Lightly metallic. Smells like holiday lights, if that makes any sense to anyone. A nice aroma. Transparent copper body with a medium off-white/yellow head. Decent lacing present. Starts herbal and a bit spicy before it it becomes a little husky with some of the crystal malts. This quickly becomes more hoppy to finish with more of the grapefruity, piney, PNW C-hop flavors. I’d say this is pretty flavorful, rather drinkable, although rather straight forward. A nice canned beer that would be good for camping.
