patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Oct 26, 2008 can - Pours lightly hazy copper with a fluffy, two finger head. It has a good citrus hop aroma and tastes moderately hopped with light citrus and pine notes. This ale is a tasty example of the style. branspra (204), Arlington, Virginia, USA Oct 24, 2008 Can. Pours a dark copper color with large white, frothy head. Aromas of hops, citrus, and more hops. Lively carbonation and a surprisingly softer hop aftertaste when considering the smell of the brew. Unfortunately the only taste is hops, and even for a hop-head like me something else is needed. movezig (137), Pensacola, Florida, USA Oct 23, 2008 Nose was hoppy some orange. Flavors hoppy with sweet malt, orange and a tiny of banana. Good. joeyplush (328), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 22, 2008 Pours a copper color with a relatively thin white head. Plentiful aroma of citrus and floral hops. Taste is also very hoppy, balanced with toasted malt. Turns a bit sour at the finish, with reminders of grapefruit. This is a nice, complex beer with a broad character. Not perfectly balanced, but diverse. Reminds a bit of Stoudt’s American Pale Ale, but not as well balanced. I’m also not a fan of anything in a can.... ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA Oct 19, 2008 On tap @ Falling Rock poured a hazy orange with a lingering ring of ivory foam. Aromas of carmel, earthiness and pine. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, earthiness and light pine with a smooth dry lightly bitter finish. Earlier Rating: 12/12/2006 Total Score: 3.1 Can poured a clear copper with a small disapating amber head. Aromas of grapefruit, carmel and pine. Palate was medium bodied and dry. Flavors of carmel, pine, grapefruit rind and a hint of earthiness with a lingering bitter finish. zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA Oct 17, 2008 Taste 10/8 Can. A mix between a pale ale and a premium bitter. Creamy and full bodied. Pretty good. Indra (2018), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Oct 17, 2008 12oz. from the brewery, canning date 10/2/08. Fresh, fruity and sweet aroma, citric and lightly malty, with notes of pine, orange, toasty biscuit and toffee. Clear medium amber color with a lasting, fine head. Flavor profile clearly shows the balance that this beer is known for, with prominent but not overwhelming hoppiness, bringing a good dosage of spicy bitterness, pine and citrus flavor, blended with a gently sweet, toasty, honeyish maltiness that helps round things out nicely. Amply carbonated but not overly so, palate is smooth and a tad oily, body is medium. Certainly one of the better examples of this style one is likely to run across. RaginCajun (284), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 16, 2008 This is a solid beer. At first it reminded me of Sierra Nevada’s Pale Ale with the floral aroma and hoppy aftertaste, but this beer takes it a little further. It is much more polished with a nice malt profile, and the hops are not quite as harsh, but you get the strong floral aromas with the bitter finish. This beer has no serious flaw, only perhaps the hop profile is not as broad as it only activates a subset of the palate. Overall, this is a very solid brew and highly recommended.
