Full aroma of sweet hops, great malt bill for balance, and yes: a smooth finish. Flavors of apple, orange juice and brown sugar amongst the smooth malts. troyc (1175), Lubbock, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 7, 2008 (Can) Pours an orange/amber color with a small amount of head. Strong aroma of pine and citrus. Hops also dominated the flavor, with some subtle sweet caramel and biscuit notes. Sticky, thick mouthfeel. Lots of citrus in the finish as well. Relatively low carbonation. A very good beer, especially for being in a can. Not sure why this beer isn’t considered an IPA though... mistersinalin (367), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA

Not only was it relly flavorful and hoppy, it is full of football instinct. I had six of these and auctioned one solid fantasy footbal team. mikey (336), farmington, Utah, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 5, 2008 Poured from a 12oz can hazy honey/amber color with a thick, tight foam cap. The nose is huge with grapefruit and pine with toasty/bready malts. The tastes starts with a snap of grassy, piney, grapefruit hops. Then comes sweet, caramel apple malt with some sweet and slightly boozy esters in the end to accompany an almost tongue-numbing hop bite. This is one of those sleeper beers. It comes at you all unassuming in it’s average looking can, then bam! it knocks you on your ass. Bravo. A very good American Pale. rampmaster (318), Alden, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Sep 4, 2008 Presentation: It was poured from tap into a pint glass.
Appearance: It has a very nice orange amber color with good clarity and a thin white head. The head fades quickly leaving just a ring of bubbles on top and very little spotty lacing that slowly slides down the sides of the glass.
Smell: The aroma has lovely aromatic hops with hints of citrus and mild pine notes. Under that there are light toasted and bready malt notes.
Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor has a good malt base with a mildly sweet caramel and buttery toasted bread character that is balanced with a pleasant flavor and bitterness from the hops. Hop flavors include mild resin and citrus (grapefruit/lemon) notes. Its finish has a nice bitterness that slowly fades off the tongue. Its light to medium bodied with active carbonation that tickles the tongue.
Notes: Overall it’s a very good easy drinking beer with plenty of flavor.

The flavor is strongly bitter with citrusy hops in the foreground, and nicely balanced with sweet malts. Slightly bready finish. A very good APA, though maybe not quite deserving of its phenomenal second place ranking within the style. tomthompson89 (1471), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
