Murky copper color with a short lived cream colored head that did leave sticky lace. Nose of malt syrup and orange juicey hops. Very hoppy APA with lots of orange peel and pine, but with enough of a bready malt backbone to balance it out pretty well. Sticky caramel sweetness that dries out to a long citrus bitterness in the finish. Solid APA. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 11, 2006 Can. Pours a clear, bright copper body with a medium, foamy off-white head and lacing. The aroma is a big surprise - it’s just great that this stuff comes in a can! Lots of sticky and resinous orange fruity hops. Also some mild sweet caramel. Wonderfully bitter and chewy with those aforementioned orange and grapefruit hops. The crystal makes a significant contribution too. This is tasty stuff that I could easily drink CAN after CAN of. Terrific. Purchased at Premier Gourmet, Buffalo in June of 2006. OleR (2104), Oslo, Norway

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 29, 2007 Luminous coppery-peach. Thick, retentive white head clings to the glass as it slowly disperses. Decent aroma consists of piney and leafy hops and nuts smattered with buttery caramel. Adequate but fairly unclean with a hint of popcorn. Densely carbonated and fairly soft. Highly acidic and slightly fuzzy, though, which fatigues the palate after a few sips. Coarse leafy bitterness immediately grips the palate and is soon trailed by husky Crystal. Malt packs plenty of flavor but certainly lacks depth and thus fails to allay the leafy and lemon rind acidity which quickly becomes disharmonious. Dirty and unfocused hop character is solely bitter and little else. Pine and citrus rind bitterness steadily intensifies, rather than teasing you with some intermittent brightness here and there. Diacetyl, while subtle, compounds the lack of cleanness by lending a buttered popcorn effect which tarnishes things. Finishes heavily bitter and leafy, with a high concentration of oiliness, but the ample dose of Crystal malt does a sufficient job of providing heft and balance, albeit in a relatively unclean fashion. Serviceable, sure, but somewhat sloppy. SSSteve (2090), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 19, 2007 Finally found this, kinda funny buying a 6 pack of cans, its been more than 15 years since I did that, and it surely wasn’t good. Just for kicks I popped the first one cold, in the can, with no intention of rating it. Actually its not so great in that form - the hops come across soapy and harsh. That is not factored into my rating. From a nonic at cellar temp: amber color, medium creamy beige head. Strong hoppy aroma, citric and sweaty. Flavor dominated by citric hop flavors, hints of bready malt. Strongly bitter finish. They call it a pale ale, but its definitely an IPA. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA

Aroma had strong floral hops that was very perfume-like. Medium brown boyd with a mild head. Starts out with a decent malt body, but the hops on the finish are metallic and cardboardish. It appears this was an older bottle. If I can get my hands on a fresh can I would love to try this again and rerate.
