I’ve been excited to get my hands on this stuff for a while, and hopefully it won’t let me down. Pours a clear orange copperish with a one finger staying light yellow head. Aroma of big pine and grapefruit, some caramel and toffee hops bordering on butterscotch, though not enough to be bad. Very bitter up front considering it’s an APA, with more perfumey and piney hops, also getting some grainy malts and a lingering grassy (not Saaz grassy though) bitter finish. Medium bodied, mod-high carbonation. Did not disappoint at all, and it is the best beer I’ve had in a can. emacgee (1892), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 15, 2007 Pours a sharp deep amber with a nice orangey head. The aroma is very pronounced hops, bitter, sweet caramel, citrus, grapefruit. Tastes very hoppy, biter waxy, citrusy, slight malty sweetness, definitely american ipa. Very waxy on the palate and warm on the finish. Beerdedone (1888), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

Big caramel, orange, and christmas tree aroma is nice. Spicy resin-citrus tames the big malty caramel taste well. Some nutty, earthy flavors develop in the mix as well. Palate is nearly medium-bodied and smooth. Seems like it could really be an IPA as far as the hop content, but I’m not complaining. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 16, 2007 Aroma wisps of carameled malt and wafting citrus orange hop juice. Pours medium amber, with a rich foamy head in off-white. Flavor a smooth, yet biting, desert-like Columbus and other West Coast hop bomb over a light toasted wheat and sweet sugars. Ends very dry. A heavy-hopped APA with a well supporting malt body. In the end, I find the hops little coarse, especially when it runs for so long on the tongue. I’m having trouble saying much else about this particular beer. It’s good, not amazing. DrnkMcDermott (1871), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA

Nose shows very citrusy hops, but not piney or grapefruitty as with other APAs. Light in color. But a great alpha-full nose overlaid on a golden malt profile. I’m definitely wathcing out for more of this when I’m on the road (not in Illinois, of course). mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 8, 2007 I drank this one out of the can so I didnt get a great opportunity to get a proper nose on it or see its appearance in a glass. Very hoppy taste, and has a good amount of bitterness to it, and alot of grapefruit. Very IPA-like. Finish is pretty smooth and stays on the tongue, and in the back of the mouth for a while. If this is the pale ale, I gotta try the double IPA.
