Commercial Description:
Brewed with hefty amounts of European malts and four kinds of American hops, it delivers a blast of hop aromas, a rich middle of malt and hops, and a thrilling finish. It weighs in at 6.5 % alcohol by volume. Why squeeze such a big brew into a little can? Because we think fun in the great outdoors calls for great beer. Our cans go where bottled beers can't, where flavorless canned beers don't belong. And no matter where you drink Dale's Pale Ale, our can protect it from light and oxidation far better than bottles do.

Northern Brewer for bittering, Cascade and Columbus for flavor, and a big, post-boil addition of Centennial for aroma.

Original Rating (7-4-7-4-14=3.4): Grapefruit, leafy, herbal hops in the nose with some underlying biscuity, toasty malt character. Hazy orange-tan coloured body with a low tan head that recedes to cover with nice lace. Biscuity and toasty malts with leafy, herbal, citrus hops in balance and fair finishing bitterness. Medium light body with moderately lively carbonation. Sampled on tap at Breckenridge.
Rerate (9-4-8-3-17=4.1): Thick, sweet, biscuity and caramel malts with orange, herbal hops apparent. Clear copper coloured body is topped with a decent off white head that lasts well and laces. Strong grapefruit, orange, herbal hops with fairly strong bitterness over sweet caramel malts that have some pleasant toasty notes. Dry, medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Can enjoyed with MartinT, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere.

Can from Eric: Pours a nice amber hue with a big fluggy head and outstanding lace. The aroma has notes of light citric and pine bitters, biscuity and caramel malts, and a dusty ester. The taste is a nicely balanced bitter versus sweetness combo. The hops shine and the malts provide a good backbone. The bit of citric notes adds depth but also provides a long aftertaste. The feel is refreshing and slightly sharp. A darn good beer, again Oskar proves canned beer "can" be good.

Can. High creamy good looking and long lasting off-white head. Clear amber body. Barley malt aroma with a nice shot of hops. At first it feels fresh and fruity, the fisnish is however pretty nice hoppy. Low carbonated and with a long hops bitter aftertaste.

Pours a crystal clear copper color small off white head. Aromas of citrus and woody hops with some fruit deep down in the glass. Flavor is mildly fruity, light malt and a good amount of hop bitterness. The malt has a short finish with the hops going much longer.Light to medium bodied and very soft feeling on the tongue.

I’ve read that this was voted "Best canned beer in America." Picked up a six-pack at Chicones in Hudson, WI. Pours a semi-clear golden amber brew with a decent white head that slowly dissolves to a film and white ring. Aroma of caramel malt, plenty of citrus zest, some dry herbal spice, and light honey. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with flavors or grapefruit, caramel and lime zest. Finish has a lingering bitterness with a dry grapefruit aftertaste. I was expecting more from all the "hype" but turns out to be a good hoppy pale ale.

Can. Medium amber pour with a fantastically large, rocky white head. Nose was quite wonderful, with citrus, pine resin, and grapefruit... along with a well-balanced array of sweet caramel and other malts. Flavor followed suit, with ample doses of bitter pine and citrus backed by smooth caramel malt. Palate was a tad lighter-bodied than I was looking for, but solid overall. Smooth malty middle and a refreshing & bitter citrus finish. Very good brew for any occasion.

Understated pale, with citrus hop smell and citrus orange taste. Above average mouthfeel. Satisfying in a meal. Suitable carbonation. Decent for a beer in a can, but I still detected metallic in my glass. which subtracted from a good balance of bitterness and malt.

Can (12oz). Good beer in a can - I’m up for it! Poured hazy orange with a smallish creamy white head. Smells like a very good APA - orange/citrus sweet & resiny hops with plenty of yeasty light roast malt backing. Tastes right too - a little light in flavour, but resiny/orange zest bitter hops with a little less malt backing, a touch smokey. Mouthfeel is creamy, lively and astringent - I could quibble and say it’s a tad watery, but six-packs of this at the corner store? I’d be there in a shot; good stuff.
