Pouring from the can into a glass, I marvel at this brew’s frothy head, beneath which a golden amber liquid sits and waits excitedly for its journey into my mouth. But first the aroma... A fresh burst of juicy hoppiness greets the nose, mingling sweet herbal notes with mild citrus qualities. The first sip introduces Dale’s delicious malt flavor, remeniscent of a good chocolate chip cookie. A vague metallic taste lingers, although the bold flavors try hard to hide it. As noted by previous reviewers, this pale ale achieves a nearly perfect balance of malts and hops. Each component helps the other one to show off its best characteristics. I think they have great Rocky Mountain water in Lyons as well. I visited the Oskar Blues establishment and had some Dale’s from their tap -- amazingly it tasted just like their canned product. (The same cannot be said for most bottled beers, which always have better flavor at the brewery.) Go cans! GandGKevin (192), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA

After all, beer is supposed to taste better in a bottle than in a can, rght? Well not in this case. This is a very good pale ale, Citrusy, hoppy aromas float from the glass. Flavors of grapefruit and a nice malty overtone. Great beer in a can. Extremely quaffable. Radek Kliber (3962), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada

Appearance: Color of dark amber with honey , large dense pillow like head. Fine lace created. Nose : Haahh… plenty of hops but not those cheap rough wet leafy one. This one is gentle giant. Aromatic high alpha with strong hints of fresh mango. Sweet hops created superb refreshing qualities.9- Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied. Woody bitterness shortly visits up front, west side hops dominate the centre. Bolder chewy green side stays behind (thankfully was quiet). Prime example how bold can be approachable, smooth it make it sweeter yet sill with tons of hops. Beer can and superb hoppy ale, brewers Campbell soup of Andy’s Warhol?

The can doesseem to protect it quite well. DOes yield some fruity esters as it warms. Seems very utilitarian. Nice. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 4, 2003 This came in a can. Really- a micro came in a can. This beer proves that macro beer does not taste bad becuase of the aluminum, but rather becuase it tastes like shit. I can't get over actually tasting hops, flavor and goodness from a can. OK, now onto the rating: I really think this brew should be classified as an IPA. It’s exceedingly hoppy, from the first whiff to the last drop sliding back into one’s gullet. It’s also exceedingly pretty in a glass, what with its clear medium amber body and sizable off-white head. This is a very full-bodied & creamy beer too. The taste is very hop-heavy, but it has a good fundamental malt base upon which to build. I’d consider this to be a great IPA and it’s almost over the top as a "regular" pale ale. No problem though because I can certainly appreciate a beer with major hopping. Excellent brew. TheBeerCollector (548), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

Don’t let the fact that this comes in a can deter you from trying it. This beer, unlike its aluminum encased macro swill brethren is packed with flavor. The flavor is dominated by hops. The only major problem that I could find with this beer was a weird oily mouthfeel which may be from the hops. IslandHaole (1035), Onna-Son, Okinawa-Ken, Japan

Excellent lacing, like growth rings on a Redwood tree. Nice hoppy nose with just enough malts to balance. Just as hoppy smelling as the Paddy Whack IPA I just had! Delicious biting hops with a good malt balance, Colorado strikes Gold with this canned gem! You guys don’t know just how lucky you are to be able to get this quality of a canned beer! Absolutely the best canned beer I’ve ever had! Thank you Josh!
