Taste is heavy on hops (yay), and has a caramel-esque smooth finish. This can of beer is truly a surprise and is one of the best American Pale Ales for your money. I paid $3 in house for a can at D’s Six Packs in PGH, PA, and can get a case for around $25 in PGH (an excellent deal for good beer here).

Big fluffy tan head when the tab is pulled back. Wonderful pine aroma. Smooth citrus flavor. A great APA that is much better than most IPAs. Trooper11 (467), Suffolk, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Oct 27, 2006 Beautifull cloudy orangish amber brew with major huge foamy white head. Huge aroma of citrus and bitter sweet grapefruit. Heavy brew, bready, grain kind of bitter hoppy flavor. Pretty satisfying. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA

Amber color with a med-large head. Sweet aroma of caramel malts with an appetizing floral hop essence. Taste is smooth and sweet. Well balanced, finishes nice. Why can’t all APAs be this good and be widely available in cans? Aubrey (2777), Denver, Colorado, USA

Clean, roasted and toasted malt flavors; nice and healthy malt backbone complements the rich bitterness of the hops. Thick and weighty on the tongue, yet very easy to drink. Some citrusy/grapefruit flavors. Quite the bold and beautiful APA. Rerate, can version: flavor or aroma does not seem to be lost in the can. Sweet and fruity maltiness still tasty. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 15, 2005 Copper colour. Low carbonation – nice one. Resiny, woody c-hops in the aroma with crystal malts and a hint of florals. Well-balanced body shows toasty notes and floral/citric hoppiness. Fairly bitter example. mike mcneil (660), St Augustine, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 19, 2007 Was a bit skeptical at first considering the $8.49 price tag for a canned APA but came away quite impressed. Poured a slightly hazy amber-orange color. Produced a classic tight, creamy beige head with excellent retention throughout the entire glass. Lots of clumpy foam islands and thick lacing. A nicely balanced aroma which leaned slightly to the malts over the hops here. Smells of caramel candy, biscuits and honey backed by more subdued notes of orange rind, grapefruit and pine needles. Mouthfeel was full and round for the style, more like a bigger IPA. Nicely done fine carbonation. Taste profile flips from the aroma seeming to favor the hops more. Citrus and pine predominate supported by mildly sweet flavors of crystal malts, caramel, fresh bread and honey. Finish was crisp, quite bitter and dry. This is one hefty APA; more like an American IPA in all respects. The OB’s beers are certainly a bit pricey but so far for me this one’s a winner and worth the $$$. Amazing that I still remember how to open a can. Anyway, copper look with persistent white head. Aroma of hops and more hops. Not as intensely hopped as others, but still packs a punch, with good hop combo and balance. Creamy feel. Solid finish. Excellent.
