Ungstrup (11031), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 10, 2008 GABF 2007. A hazy pale golden beer with a thick beige head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of whiskey, but also lighter notes of over ripe fruit. The flavor is sweet malt with lots og whiskey and alcohol, the latter burning slightly and warming the cheeks, it also has notes of caramel. TomDecapolis (2389), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 27, 2008 On tap at Capones. Pours a milky looking brown with orange notes and a medium creamy/bubbly white head that left some lacing. Aroma of whiskey, vanilla, oak, citrus, tropical fruits some pine, green apple and grapefruit. Flavor of the same whiskey, vanilla and oak. The hops, caramel sweet malts are still there as well. The barrel did the Gordon good. JB175 (1319), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 26, 2008
Draft from Capones - Reddish amber pour with a medium head. Aroma is solid bourbon and wood - bits of vanilla and roast too. Flavor is a solid bourbon assault - lots of wood and vanilla, some light hops, and burnt barrel. Nice mouthfeel. I liked it, but couldn’t say it tasted great as its a bit over-exposed to the barrel for my liking, at least for a beer like Gordon. Nice to try! john_adam2002 (529), Hainesport, New Jersey, USA Feb 25, 2008 Poured dark amber with a off white head. Aroma of vanilla and oak. Sweet oak and vanilla to start with some whiskey in the finish. adrian910ss (1009), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 22, 2008 On tap at Capone’s. Pours a muddy sandy brown with a large creamy white head. Lots of lacing. Aroma of vanilla, oak wood and bourbon/whiskey. Taste is creamy with hints of oak, vanilla and bourbon. Very nice.
