Amazing...probably the best beer in a can i’ve ever had. Strong (8.7%ABV) and smooth IPA. Reminds me a lot of Dogfish’s 90 minute ipa.

Clear golden amber color with a big fluffy beige head. Lots of sticky lacing and nice retention. Aroma is pineapple juice and a huge dose of caramel and brown sugar. Overly sweet. Flavor is sweet caramel malts and fruity hops. Not a lot of bitterness. Pleasant but not that complex and a little too sweet. Body is medium, carbonation is subdued, high drinkability.

Had on tap at Taco Mac. Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of citrus and pine hops with some caramel malts. Flavor is the same with a decent bitter finish that lingers. Not very much warming on this one.

Canned. Just maybe the best drinking beer ever! It has a beautiful amber color. Make sure you drink it a little warmer. If it is too cold the aroma seems mild but when left at an appropriate IPA or PA temperature this IIPA/IAA explodes with scent. The beers palate is oily...maybe a little too oily (my only complaint) but combined with the sweeter caramel malt palate creates an incredibly sticky beer! The taste is bold ver BOLD with sweet malts of caramel and lots of hops on the back end that makes the finish linger bitter for a while. A little fruit on top. Alcohol is high but well hidden. Great Day Beer!

12 oz can courtesy of Discount Liquors (Milwaukee, WI). Pours a dark murky amber with big bubbly offwhite head that dissipates to a moderate amount, laces well. Aromas are evident straight from the crack, carmel malt based with floral hops complimented by citrusy grapefruit, pine, and some resiny earthiness. Smells a bit sweet overall. Initial pushed malty bready and carmel overall up front, no shocking bitterness, but moves to some citrus and florals and moderate bitterness further in. Moves to pine and resin a bit, but still malt dominant overall. This is a good beer, but just not my thing as it moves towards the Strong Ale category easily.

Poured amber with a white head. Aroma of pine and caramel. More sweet than bitter. The malt kind of overpowered the hops. Some citrus hints.

12oz can. Interesting. Pours a nice, dark, hazy amber. Looks more like an American Strong Ale opposed to a DIPA. Aroma consisting of woodsy, bready notes. A somewhat pleasantly sweet, almost candy flavor with a nice hop presence still placed in the background. Not quite what I was expecting, but definitely pleased. Let’s see if it ages well.

Can at Church Key, North Beach, San Francisco, with Phyllis, 26th Mar 09. Clear dark amber with a cracking nose of peach, orange zest and loads of hops. Rich and malty on the tongue, great balance, smooth palate. Superb for a beer in a can.
