I enjoyed this one a lot. Tons of hops, a sweet malt profile. Pine, grapefruit are the two most prominent hop flavors. Definitely not overpowering though, which is a suprise considering there is no denying its a hop heavy beer. Right up there with all Oskar Blues as the best beer anyone can find in a can. dkachur (2407), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 14, 2008 Huh. How did I miss rating this? Can from Market Street Wineshop Downtown Charlottesville. The following is my review from cvillebeergeek.blogspot.com
Appearance: Pours a dark, dark amber with a medium sized frothy head. The head doesn’t stick around but leaves a thick layer of lacing around the glass. This has the look of an imperial IPA. 4.0/5.0
Aroma: Big hop profile... mostly citrus but also some pine. Big hops, but not too assertive. Fairly well balanced. 3.5/5.0
Taste: The hops come through right up front. They have an assertive but soft character. This is balanced fairly well by a nice malty sweetness. I can’t detect any of the "canniness" that Chris fears so much. Still, there seems to be something missing. 3.5/5.0
Mouthfeel: The hops are strong, but not too sharp. That being said, if you’re not a fan of hoppy beers, this probably won’t be your cup of tea. Medium body with a sticky, oily texture. 4.0/5.0
Drinkability: The relatively high alcohol content is well hidden, and if you are a "hop head," this one goes down easy. That being said, this is not a beer for the uninitiated. The stickyness leads to a heavy, warm feeling in the belly after a while. 4.0/5.0
Overall: 3.70/5.00. This is a good beer, but not outstanding. That being said, it’s the best beer I’ve ever had out of a can. That being said, that’s not saying all that much. That being said, it’s still a mighty fine beer. It is a bit pricy. I can’t remember exactly, but I think I paid $3.69 for it at Market Street Wine Shop downtown.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 14, 2008 Deep red-orange amber. Huge aromas of fudgey caramel and tropical fruit. Chewy malty palate with an equally generous fruity hop load (citrus, guava), big bitter finish. Absolutely delicious. MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Amber orange mostly clear with fluffy white head and a bit of lacing on the glass. Grainy cherrios and carmel malts with grassy floral hops. I got a big sweet tea flavor. Medium body with a fairly dry finish with a touch of bitterness. Nice, different, very tasty beer. brianprentiss (475), Portland, Oregon, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2008 From mcbackus via trade. The pour is a nice swirl of ruby, copper and brown with a strong off-white head that produced above average lacing. The initial aroma was pine (almost pine-sol) with plenty of earthy hops as well as citrus. Tea leaves and malt came forth as it opened up. The flavor was milder than I expected. More floral and tea leaves with only hints of citrus, pine and caramel malt. The body was on the thin side and the finish was clean. Call it Arrogant Bastard Light. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Jul 5, 2008 Updated: Dec 25, 2008Can, pours a burnt red and ruby with off-white and darker bubbled head that thins to a cover and ring, left some nice lacing on the glass, lots of piney, citrus and grassy hops on the nose, aroma of caramel and toasted malt with some sweet candy fragrances, I did not pick-up any alcohol in my whiffs, the hops are plentiful until the ale reaches room temperature then the malt reigns in, I was expecting a big hop bite from the nose on this ale but the bite is softer then its bark, flavor of toasted malt and caramel with a soft but evident hop bitterness, no alcohol taste at first, a little alcohol shows on the palate at room temperature, mouth feel is thinner then I expected for a American Strong and the carbonation is about medium, hops on the nose are bigger then the hops on the palate, very easy to drink quickly, I found this ale easy to gulp!
I have to say, this is easy to drink quickly without realizing that this stuff is 8.7% alc., I love this stuff because I can chug it and get lost in it, very nice.
