kidmartinek (731), austin, Texas, USA May 28, 2008 Pours dark copper with a very small head, mildly sweet hop aroma. Strong and indicative of what’s to come. Aroma is a floral hop bouquet. Flavor is full, bitter, hoppy, and great. How outstading could this beer possibly be while kayak fishing the Texas marshlands. Inexplicable. A 4+ beer in a can. What a novel idea. Pay attention, Oskar Blues has a good idea. Full mouthfeel, more than full flavor, refreshing. clean, bitter finish.
NobleSquirrel (683), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 6, 2008 Can from Discount Liquors. Finally found this one. Pour is reddish brown, a bit cloudy. Nose is hugely hoppy, pine, caramel, grapefruit. Smells straight sticky. Off yellow head that is in fact sticky. Creamy smooth body with a nice balance of caramel malt with a moderate bitterness. Some iced tea notes, not too sweet, clean bitterness. The more I drink it, the better it gets. Amazingly drinkable for 8.7%. It’s like a better version of Arrogant Bastard....
Awesome. Beer_Hawk (759), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Oct 5, 2008 Can. Poured a dark orange with an off-white head that left good lacing. Nice hoppy aromas of citrus and pine. The flavor had grapefruit and caramel. Medium body, smooth, starts slightly sweet but ends with a medium bitterness. Nice! skortila (2433), Bunnik, Netherlands Oct 4, 2008 Canned. Strong aroma of hops.Orange, pine, caramel. Clear, orange coloured with a thin head. Taste is slightly sweet, wuite bitter. Has caramel, pine, citrus. Bit on the sharp side. Okay though. ketchepillar (276), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Oct 1, 2008 Needs re-rate of fresher can. Aroma smells like I just opened a bag of hops w/ a hint of chocolate & caramel and I like it. Some cat pee in the hops though. Flavor feels a bit watery. Between IIPA and Imp Red Ale sounds about right to me. Some chocolate in the finish, surprisingly not that bitter. Low carbonation. Solid, but seems a bit off, which I’m hoping a fresher can will solve. crowderm (179), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Oct 1, 2008 Very nice reddish amber pour, good head, pretty lacing. Awesome pine, citrus, fresh malt aroma. I believe my can is bit old, but the flavor is still good. Sweet mineral water malt, caramel, pine, orange, some floral notes. Body is thick and smooth, but just light enough to keep this brew refreshing. Good overall, and would almost certainly be better fresh.
