Commercial Description:
Gordon is a dry-hopped hybrid strong ale somewhere between a Double IPA and and Imperial Amber Ale (IAA). Brewed in tribute to the late Gordon Knight, Gordon is brewed with massive amounts of American hops and features about 85 IBUs and 8.7% alcohol by volume. Once a winter seasonal, Gordon is now a year-round, limited-supply offering.

Pours a deep, thick, almost cloudy burnt orange/red. Earthy, pine aromas dominate the nose. Flavor is super-hopped (not my favorite style) with just a hint of caramel malty goodness. Palate is heavy and smooth, but finishes too dry for my liking. This is a well hopped beer that will be loved by loved by those that enjoy the style.

Fantastic beer, especially from a can. Nice dark amber color, big hop aroma. Very well balanced, nice and smooth too. Nice beer to take to the lake.

Pours a deep amber color with a medium sized puffy off white head. Nose is floral, with some tobacco and cedar, and lots of very fresh malt, straight out of the grinder. Fairly hoppy. Mouthfeel is moderate and the finish is slightly acidic, warming, and somewhat lasting. The taste is hard to define. I would say wood, cherries, malt and pure bitterness. Very well balanced and not overdone in any aspect. Reminds me quite a bit of Alpha Kappa King from 3F.

aroma is, umm, hoppy, but not overpowering. Color is a nice shade of caramel, slightly hazy. very nice head and lacing. flavor is very toffee-like hidden behind the hops. A very, very well balanced beer. This is dern good beer.

Can: Courtesy of my boy Major0429 by way of SoLan...thanks to both of you. Pour was a light amber with a minimal cream head and fine lacing. The nose on this is ridunculous...notes of red apple, light malts, mild caramel hints and a wonderful citrus hop offering. Perfect mouth feel. Flavor is fantastic...sweet caramel, citrus, floral hops and light fruity esters. The thing that makes this beer so damn good is the balance that it has...the hops don’t overwhelm it and the malt characteristics hold their own. Everything about this brew is beautiful. Damn near perfect.

On tap at the brewery, elsewhere, and in the can! Skoi like Gordon. Really enjoy how you can’t really tell if this is a DIPA, a strong red, or both! Regardless the malt characteristics blend joyfully with a huge hop cone flavor throughout the body and finish. At $3.99 a can most place, I do believe it is a bit over-priced though.
