Wonderfully tastly caramel malts, light on the hops for a sweeter-than-usual ale, mine was about a week old so it was a little light on the carbonation but still quite active. Recommended. Draft @ brewery. Pours a very nice looking cloudy brown, with a frothy off-white head. Some lacing. Aroma of roasted malts (not over burnt). Flavor similar, a touch of sweetness, and well balanced. Palate is smooth and creamy. Overall I found this to be a good tasting, highly drinkable brown ale. Would buy tons if I didn’t have to drive to Lyons to drink it. Creamy texture and very mouth filling. Roast and toast character with hints of toffee, fruits and brown sugar, which leads into a dry, hoppy finish. Fairly nice nose as well. It’s a high quality, well made brown. Nutty caramel flavor bit of raisin. Great American Brown ALE! ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 16, 2008 Draft @ the brewery. Lightly hazed brown body with a tan, patchy, thick head. Nose of rich toast, chocolate malt, cocoa powder... very bready and doughy, dusty even. Flavor is rich and pasty cocoa (dry), chocolate malt, toasted bread, nutmeg, light touch of almonds/amaretto, even some vanilla. Complex, well-made, satisfying and impressive for a brown ale. Smooth, silky body. Beaver (598), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

The aroma is earthy chocolate, a little dark fruit, and some peat.
The flavor is slightly smoky chocolate malts with a little grassy hoppiness. It’s medium to full bodied.
Overall, this would make a nice session beer. It’s pretty mild but tasty. It tastes like mild scottish ale (a mini version of the Old Chub). Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
