Sampled at the 5th Annual Wildland Firefighters Benefit & Festival. Beer is clear with big lazy bubble trails, light gold with a small, beige, frothy, quickly diminishing head.
The aroma is lightly malty with notes of toasted grain and biscuit; Hoppy with a moderate note of resin/pine, honeysuckle floral; Yeasty with a light note of dough; Light notes of honey and a hint of metal that fades out.
The flavor is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, light-to-moderately bitter with a long, slighly husky, trace sweet finish.
The body is light, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively-to-fizzy.

02May07 on tap @TacoMac. On the menu as a Blonde but Cream Ale makes more sense. Surprisingly good. aroma of a golden lager. color of a golden lager, crisp light, refreshing. Great Body. Only if all BMC were like this, they would have it done! An almighty American Lager w/o the American Lager staleness flavor.

Ah, this explains why this beer wasn’thte hugely impressive beer that the rest of Oskar Blues’ specialty beers have been. The style doesn’t allow for impressive beers. Still the solid session brew. Bright aroma and flavor with a bit of a citrusy character. Without the slight fruitiness I would have pegged this as a good pils (and if it had coriander to back up the citrusy notes, I would have pegged it as a thin, filtered witbier).

Very interesting to find this on tap in the Pittsburgh area at Mad Mex in Robinson. The only other cream ale I have to compare this to is an old macro favorite, Genny. Pour is clear very light yellow. The aroma is hoppy and there is no carbonation rising within the brew. Head starts off thin and whitish then disappears. Yes the flavor is hoppy, more hoppy than I would have expected for this style but it is not APA or IPA hoppy. It’s relatively thin and watered down compared to those styles. Personally, I think this makes it a more enjoyable hopped brew. Comes across almost like a brown ale, except for the color. Finish is gentlemanlike behavior and non offensive. I’m not sure what to think of this brew. Does not really stack up to Gennessee Cream Ale. I don’t see how Genny can be in the same style as this.

On tap @ Oskar Blues poured a clear pale yellow with a small lasting white head. Aromas of bread, light straw and a faint hint of citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of straw, bread and a very faint hint of citrus with a crisp clean finish.

Draught at Oskar Blues. Pours clear light yellow with a small fizzy white head, mostly diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (grain, cereal, meal), average hops (herbs, celery), average yeast (sweat) with notes of cooked vegetables. Light bodied, thin texture, soft carbonation and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity and bitterness. I could not finish this beer.

Draught. Head is mostly diminishing. Body is light yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain, husks), lightly hoppy (herbs), with a note of DMS. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Funny name, but it’s a long way from their pils (which is quite good). They can’t win ’em all, I guess.
