Commercial Description:
Ten FIDY's huge-but-comforting flavors hide a hefty 10.0% and 98IBU. This version is aged in whiskey barrels from Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey (Denver, CO) to create an even trippier extreme beer.

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV of the regular Ten FIDY tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%. This version is thus set to that value for consistency, but may not be exactly identical.

Pours an opaque black color with a dark brown head. Aroma is chocolate, plum, roast, caramel, bourbon, vanilla, oak, and alcohol. Flavor is plum, caramel, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, some bitter roast, and some bitter bourbon finish.

Ridiculously tasty. I mean this is another example of something that you taste and never want to drink anything else. Been waiting a year to try this one again, missed it last year at GABF, I got into town on Thursday and they had a tasting of these the night before at Falling Rock. This is a great example of how barrel aging improves an already tasty beer. Aromas of butterscotch, vanilla and chocolate, with some okay nuances. Dark fruits, whiskey boozy notes, and vanilla, I want to drink this over and over again.

Growler from carythedude. And holy shit. I have always loved regular ten fidy...but this one? My god, its through the roof. Black pour. Aroma is sweet and full of bourbon, chocolate, molasses, vanill and woody oak tones. Flavor is much richer and not as hoppy as the orginal. Its toned down on one note while ramped up on the flavor and richness. Amazing. Loads of rich chocolate, molasses, bourbon, raisins, vanilla. Wow. Just wow. Yessss! I want this again!!

Tap @ Tasty Weasel brewery...aroma is softer, more balanced then the ’normal’ and has notes of vanilla and oak. Flavor is more similar to the standard release than I expected, though the same overtones of vanilla and wood are there and serve to round out the edges really nicely. Solid.

Tap at Max’s. Pours a very deep black oily with a nice thin dark tan head. Aroma is bourbon barrel- oaky and vanilla with some more hints of alcohol, big roast and bittersweet chocolate with tar and tobacco. Flavor is earthy leather tobacco, tarry licorice with the sweet bourbon barrel vanilla, chocolate and some old roast. Very smooth yet a slight alcohol kick. Nice.

Max’s rare beer night part 2. Super rich dark black, very small thick head. Aroma is awesome. So sweet, vanilla, mellow bourbon, not hot at all. Flavor is superb. Not overaged at all. Sweet bourbon, whiskey and oak with vanilla and molasses. So incredibly drinkable, glad I was able to drink as much of this as I wanted, although I did not overdo it. Just so highly drinkable for a bourbon barrel aged IS. I agree with scraff. Although it would be against OB I think they should bottle this as a limited release. It would fly! Yum.

Draft – Max’s. Oil slick black, light tan creamy head. Deep coconut bourbon and caramelized milk chocolate aromas ride a steady wave of mild coffee and oak. Whiskey and vanilla wood flavors balance well on sturdy foundation of chocolate caramel truffles throughout. Medium to full bodied and slick, pillow soft carbonation, bourbon finish. OB should consider putting this out as a canned seasonal. Would be an absolute hit…

On tap at Max’s in Baltimore: Pours an oily opaque with a thin, wispy ring of dark tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel, chocolate and light bourbon oak. Starts with good fullness and a smooth, sweet creamy body with lots of vanilla and nice whiskey oak complexity before a bittersweet dark chocolate finish. A nicely balanced and dangerously drinkable barrel aged imperial stout.
