The cherries actually seems dried and aged. The beer of course is very good with a hint of smoke. Well, more than a hint I guess. Nicer chocolate flavors as well. Smell of malt, chocolate, caramel, smoke, prunes and cherries. At first, the cherries were not noticeable, but as it warmed up, you could smell the cherries. Taste of Chocolate cake, tart cherries, malt, caramel, toffee and hops. What a wonderful stout. It got better and better as it warmed. brewblackhole (1380), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 17, 2007 Mothwatering aroma of cocoa and baker’s chocolate, caramel ,some smoke, and just the faintest hint of cherries, you can tell by the aroma that it will be milky smooth, and it sure is all of that, rich velvety chocolate malt, with a touch of caramelachio, I’m taking someone’s word that there is cherry in here,I taste the tartness of the fruit, just seemed really hard to nail down,a pleasing finishing bitterness , utterly spectacular, imagine what it would taste like right from the tap. thanks Kingpin WeeHeavySD (2980), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

Pours black with islands of tan floating head. Nose is malty with notes of coffee and chocolate and of course some cherry. The taste is sweet with a notes of molasses, malts, and sweet cherries that linger in the mouth. I like to think of this as a beautifully crafted Imperial Stout that has a giant ripe Cherry floating in the center. It doesn’t overwhelm the other tastes, but it contributes to the overall character of the beer. Smooth in the mouth, a killer sipper. kp (8396), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

black, thick brown head, thick lace, light chocolate aroma with a hint of cherry, strong cherry flavor mixed with rich chocolate, the cherry is well balanced with the chocolate and does not over power it, a touch of cherry tartness adds complexity, cherry grows and picks up sweetness yet remains in check and retains the tart edge, cherry character is very unique with the interplay between the sweet and tartness,

finally getting an aroma of dry chocolate malts with a hint of cherry and then it’s gone again, cherry flavor coming through stronger but still balanced by the very rich chocolate, the amount of cherry varies from sip to sip

Aroma of sweet cherries, roasted malts, light chocolate, and some smoke. Taste of sticky dark chocolate, tobacco, sweet cherries, roasted malts, caramel, mocha, and dried fruits, with some alcohol in the finish. RollinHard (760), Fort Worth, Texas, USA

Aroma was of velvety chocolate, vanilla, roast coffee and citronella candles. From what I remember, the flavor can be described pretty much the same way. Palate, however, felt perfect. You know, when I get a chocolate dessert at a restaurant, I let my girlfriend have the fruit on the side. I’d rather have this without the cherries, they made things a little weird for me. weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA

Appears an opaque, pitch black with a fluffy, dark tan head that slowly fades out. Scattered bits of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of ripe fruit, mollasses, cocoa, black grapes, and roasted nuts.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with a bit of a fig, molasses, and maraschino cherry juice.
Mouthfeel is full bodied, slick, with a cherry juice flavor that reminds me of "juicy juice" swirls along the tastebuds.
