Tasted side x side with the regular Ten FIDY version. Poured a dark black color with an averaged sized brown head. Aromas of chocolate covered cherries, raisins, and had an all around general fruitiness to it. Tastes of chocolate, lightly tart cherries, cherry pie, and roast. The cherries where there but not overpowering and done very well. Started out sweet and ended in a nice light tartness. Creamy smooth body with the alcohol content well hidden. I liked this version better than the ’regular’ version. Naven (878), Poway, California, USA

It poured a viscous black color. The aroma was dark malts and coffee. The flavor was smooth and silky, with just a hint of cherry in the middle somewhere. Im glad they didn’t overdue it with the cherries. Oskar Blues is a world class brewery. Bartzilla (445), San Diego, California, USA

Glad I got to take part in this huge, delicious bottle of tasty stout. The cherry is there, but doesn’t obscure the overall taste of the stout. Very nice, easy drinking and warming. Impossible to tell this is 9.4% by any stretch of the means. jason (1625), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 17, 2007 Hand Bottled 1 litre Thanks to Hopdog for sharing this one and doing it side by side with the regular Ten Fidy (and gushing some of it on me). Dark body with thin head. Aroma is very sweet with an odd fruit sense. Very sweet taste with a nice syrupy cherry taste - tasted like the frozen cherry filling you find in the freezer section of the grocery store. This was so smooth and well balanced. The cherry really comes out in the end. Alcohol was undetected and I could sip this all night. TomDecapolis (3211), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a deep black with a medium brown creamy lacing head. Aroma of tart cherries, milk chocolate, some coffee, various fruits. Flavor of nice tart cherries and chocolate some hop flavor, alcohol very well hidden, slight hop bitterness. I had this side by side with the regular Ten Fidy and I liked this one slightly more. jimbowood (966), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Mar 30, 2007 Draft. Huge chocolate and coffee aroma. Tart cherry undertones throughout the flavor. Serve @ room temp. and this brew is very complex and sweet. This is a quality brew. Very interesting. A very unique brew. puzzl (2648), New York, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2007 Hand-bottle from TAR. Aroma is astringent chocolate and coffee with only the slightest hint of cherries. Some peanut brittle and vodka scents in there as well. Pour is pretty much just a dead black, with only a touch of a head. Astringency up front in the mouth, stout flavors are subdued by bitter hops. No cherries to be found. This is very different from the hand-bottled normal Ten FIDY I had yesterday, which was fuller, richer of normal stout flavors and not showing and hop character at all. This one is a bit of a mess. Thanks a ton TAR for the bottle!
edit: I take it back: when you take large sips/gulps of the beer, you do notice a bit of cherry in the middle. beerist (14), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 15, 2007 Brick Store Draft. Pours the deepest black with an odd, thick, chunky head. Chunks of cherry pulp enrobe the entire glass - not typical "lacing" at all! Aroma’s a little muted - roasty chocolaty not much cherry in the nose at all. This is unlike any other beer I’ve had. Big chunks of cherries. Roasty/chocolaty/thick with a nice balance between the sweet and sour cherries. There’s also a fairly prominent hop bitterness. Awesome! Probably the most unique mouthfeel I’ve ever had. Almost like chunky V8 juice.
