Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

CAN. Pours blackish-brown engine oil body. Slight chocolate aroma. Palate is great - taste is extremely well balanced, ery sweet and no alcohol in the flavor whatsoever.

Can as image shows. Split with JRedmond. Pours like motor oil after about 10,000 miles of hard driving.. identical in both color and consistency. Nose is burnt roasted malt cocoa, sharpie pen, and Toasties. Taste is sweet with tons of malt. No indication of 9.4. Wondrous brew.

From a can, gift from SpringsLIcker. Very little tan head which clears quickly leaving a lacing on the glass. Chocolate flavor with some bitterness... more bitterness than sweet. Alcohol taste very present with a bitter aftertaste. Not one of my favorite imperial stouts. To me, a bit unbalanced, but drinkable. Could be the beer was a bit past it’s prime. I would like to taste it on draft and in prime aging.

This beer poured blacker than Samuel L Jackson and developed a perfect fingers head. I couldnt see bubbles in the swampy liquid, but carbonation was satisfactory. The flavors hit you in the mouth instantly, and leave you just as quick, very standard flavor profile for an RIS, roasted coffee, dark chocolate notes, with an odd aftertaste. I’m not that impressed and this beer doesnt really live up to the hype.

From a can courtesy of Fred Waltman at havebeerwilltravel.net. Even well-chilled, it has a powerful oily nose when poured, jet-black with a loose dark camel foam. In the mouth it is chocolate and chocolate-covered coffee beans, roasted malt and fresh dark rye bread. Very well-incorporated alcohol for 9.4%. Impressive.

It’s shocking to see such a dark liquid to come from a can. Nearly no head. And what is there dies to ring of bubbles on the edge. Virtually spotless lace. Near black, no lace. Mild black patent malt aromas. Not as potent as I expected. The flavor is an improvement on the smell. Oily body of a high-alcohol beer. Black patent malt flavors with notes of cherry and strawberry. Some hoppiness is present. Overall, this is a syrupy and malty beer where the bitterness comes from the burnt grains.

12 oz can from By the Bottle in Vancouver, WA. I had been looking forward to trying this one for a very long time and it was well worth the wait! Poured out black as the night with a thick oatmeal brown head that lasted for ages. Aroma is full of caramel malts, chocolate, coffee and the flavor is much the same, just malty and extremely delicious. Goes down smooth as silk as well. Amazing beer.
