Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

Pours out a black color with a thick brown head. aroma is big on malts, coffee, dark fruit, and choco. flavor is rather smooth with a lot of similarities to the aroma with a nice smack of hops in the finish. This can of burnt motor oil is great.

12 oz. can purchased at Bon Vivant (bottled August 25, 2008). Pours as black as any beer I have ever seen. Looks thick like motor oil. Aroma is port-like; alcoholic with a hint of dark fruit. Flavor is decent. I detect some smoke from the roasted malt. I am tasting some of the dark fruit from the aroma. No taste of alcohol but I do feel the burn. Not my first can of Ten Fidy and I do remember liking this better. Must re-rate when I am certain it is fresh...Re-rate June 30, 2009. Much better this go round. Rich and creamy texture. Big roasted malt flavor. Huge dark chocolate taste. This is the beer I remember. An outstanding Imperial Stout.

Pours a black color with a tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, molasses, dark fruits, and a little bit of some alcohol. Thick palate, kind of sweet at first but the roasted flavors hit you right after that. A decent bitter finish with a nice lingering flavor.

Can. Pours deep black with athin brown head with minimal lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with a bit of candy sugar. Flavor leans towards the sweet side, chocolate with a bit of biter roasted malt, licorise, brown sugar and a touch of espresso. Thick mouthfeel, kind of like a milkshake. Nice stout, very drinkable.

Wow. Intense as you might expect. Had this awhile ago so the memory of the flavors eludes me but...the best part was how the waitress accidentally grabbed my glass off the table and then refilled it for free. BONUS! the picture does the head justice; dark as night and thick as a...wait for it...foggy night. one to savor.

On tap at Hamilton’s. Pours pitch black and thick with only a thin layer of brownish head. Moderate aroma of roasted malts with bits of medicine-y anise. Strong flavor of espresso that has been slightly burnt. Flavors of dark chocolate follow. The bitterness beats out the sweetness, though it is hard to believe that this measures all the way up to 98 IBUs. I get some booze in the mostly bitter finish. I wonder how this tastes from the can.

ok i was blown away with this one. pours pitch black and thick like oil. just the littlest tan head around the rim. aroma is tons of chocolate, coffee, rich roasted malts, and toffee. drinks sweet up front with sweet chocolate pushing right through with some creamy toffee and caramel with it also. just a little coffee is tasted and it finishes sweet with a chocolate after taste. fantastic stout, and from a can no less.
