Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

Can from South Bay Drugs: Such the most blackest stout I have witnessed in a long time. Creates a huge abruption of violent dark brown colored head while a sweet and strong dark chocolate fills the aroma occupies my area. There are instant flavors of tartness which then leads to a sweet blend of chocolate and roasted down black malts. The drink is easily consumed but lacks a more fuller and creamier palate but I’m overly surprised that this imperial stout came from a can.

Can, thanks to Alaskanwarren for this one. Opened for our "Reeser Got Married" tasting. Oily black, deep red-tan head. Bright salty licorice and sea air nose. Oily chocolate and cocoa powder flavor, intense and demanding. Ultra thick, full mouthfeel, giving that gorgeous melting chocolate sensation. Full, but without too much sticky. A pleasant Imp all around, but the mouthfeel--that’s truly fine. Thanks Brian!

Can at City Beer Store in SF. A good beer but definitely not a standout for the style. Black color, dark brown head. One of the darkest heads I’ve seen in a beer. Aroma was roasted malt, coffee, and some hop bitterness. Flavor was more of the same, maybe a hint of dark fruit, bitter cocoa, and slight metallic notes. Smooth on the palate. Alcohol noticeable but not too much for the ABV.

Incredibly drinkable Imperial stout with a fair amount of roasted notes that are more coffee than chocolatey. Super smooth mouthfeel, almost shockingly so. My favorite ’readily’ available imperial. Maybe just my favorite in general.

So i had this for breakfast at the foodery in philly the other day and it was excellent. Great way to start the day, with a very thick chocolatey stout that had its fair share of hops and some coffee alongside. Best thing to come out of a can that ive had in a while.

Taste 2/9 Can. Looks: Dark and opaque w/tan head. Aroma: Nice mild dark fruit with the roasted and toasted malt bitter coffee and chocolate. Taste: To style, nothing off and nothing fabulous. Good and smooth. Seems to have a freshness. Quite drinkable with little alcohol taste.

Got a growler of this at their new tasting room in Longmont, "The Tasty Weasel". Aroma- Oaky esters, dark cherries, slight roastiness, verry woody, some fusel alcohol. It’s what I like an aroma from a dark beer to smell like. Appearance- Murky, no clarity, very dark brown. There is a decent ammount of brown head. Moderate lacing. Flavor- Chocolatey goodness. Medium to moderate roastiness, but not burnt and/or overbearing. Bitterness is present, and does more than balance, but again, is not obtuse. The malt flavors balance each other, with chocolate, oak, and roast...phenominal. Palate- Full body, medium carbonation, and I’m pleased that the hop dryness at the end is subdued. Velvetty soft. Overall Impression- Anyone can make an intense Imperial Stout, but this is one that’s very easy to drink, while still being able to appreciate the complexity.

Poured black, very opaque with ruby around the top edge. Just about zero head, just a few brown bubbles. Roasted malt, roasty coffee, chocolate and port aromas, excellent. Real nice full body, forms a film on the sides of the glass as I tilt it. Roasty malt, coffee and bakers chocolate flavors, the smell doesn’t lie. Finish clean with some lingering cafe mocha. Drinkable, with the alcohol non-existant. A big beer with a nice balance of malt and hops. The only thing I would say could improve this would be slightly more carbonation, which could make it more creamy than oily. Still deserving of the good reviews. In the top 10 non-barrel aged Imperial Stouts.
