Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

Wow, pouring this from the can was actually scary, it poured blacker than black. There is a reason it’s called 10w50. No light is visible through this brew. Dark tan head disappaited quickly. Big roasty sweet nose. I smell coffee, cocoa, plums and raisins. This is a hefty brew. It’s like dark chocholate, roasty and dry with some sweetness. Alcohol is present but that’s too style. This is a well balanced and beefy brew. A perfect winter beer.

I’m always at war with big stouts and which ones are better than others. This one just got moved into the top 3 for stouts. It’s got a dark syrupy pour that has an aroma of chocolate, coffee, and subtle hints of oats(just as the description suggests) The 9.4%ABV is not overpowering at all, which makes it that much more enjoyable.

Can’t rate the appearance because the can is not clear, duh. OK, pours opaque black with minimal head. Dark tan head that recedes quickly. Aroma is a strange marriage of chocolate and hops. Dark fruits present. Flavor very chocolaty. Strong, bitter finish from the hops. Kind of a strange hop dance in the middle. I doubt the 98 IBU claim. The hops blend much too well in this beer to be that high. Not as thick as moist RIS, but still considered heavy. Carbonation a little prickly. Overall, a great imp. I hate hops in my stout, but this is the only hoppy stout that strikes a great balance.

Deep black with very thin brown head. Rich malty aroma with roast and chocolate. Full bodied flavor of coffee, mocha, bitter chocolate and toffee. Slight alcohol warmth and long finish

I can’t believe this beer came in a can. pours like used motor oil with thick brown head. Roma Strong smokey sweetness and black licorice. Burnt sugar. Flavor just like the aroma sweetness with lots of booze that tingles the tongue finishes with smokiness. Its like a taste of old strong cold coffee - just lingers and lingers. Why cant we get this beer in Ohio

Can at Akkurat, Stockholm. Pours black with a big dark brown head. Aroma of chocolate, malt and a hint of smoke. Taste of chocolate, coffe, malt sweetness and some alcohol. Not very imperial...

Can. Black with very dark head. This stout has got a little of everything. Vanilla, chocolate, vinous alcohol, some smoke and bitter chocolate in the aftertaste.

Thanks 17th floor! Pours a deep black with a small dark tan froth. Aroma is super rich chocolate, malted milk balls, dark cocoa, chocolate syrup, a whole lot of sweet sweet cocoa, oh and just a bit of coffee. Flavor starts with a rich deep chocolate malt, some soy biting in on the tongue. Remains sweet, malty and rich but never really builds upon it through the finish where it has a light hop push and fades with a bitter chocolate note. Medium to full body and a soft carbonation. Great aroma, okay flavor, could be a really good beer.
