Commercial Description:
Oskar Blues has released a special draft-only seasonal beer for the winter months. Ten FIDY Imperial stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY’s huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness.

Also affectionately known as Ten W FIDY (i.e., 10W-50).

Editor's Note: The brewery has had the ABV tested at a lab, which came out to 9.4%.

(Can, Akkurat, Stockholm) Pitch black colour with brief, frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with espresso, ashes, tar and cocoa. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, black coffee, ashes and some tar. Generous cocoa bitterness in a long finish. Full body, slightly oily mouthfeel, fairly dry. Alcohol fairly well hidden. Well, it’s bold, full bodied, hoppy, strong and ... it’s canned! But in some way it’s very well balanced and quite easy to drink. Very tasty and quite brilliant!

Pours a jet black color out of the can with a bold, creamy brown head. Aroma is of coffee, oatmeal, chocolate and molasses. Taste features a prominent oatmeal taste, with bitterness coming from the coffee and some hops. With a little bit of sweetness coming from the chocolate and molasses. Rich, hearty, mouthfeel.

12 oz can. Pours black with a dense, foamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, vanilla and burnt sugar. Flavor is bittersweet chocolate, roasted malt and a very light alcohol taste. Full body with mild carbonation and a thick, creamy mouth feel similar to chocolate milk. Best beer I’ve ever had out of a can, a very solid Imp Stout with great aroma and flavor, I really like the mouth feel in this one.

Taster at the SLC tasting 2009
Appearance: Poured a thick black with a very nice dark tan head and lacing in the glass
Aroma: Roasted malts, chocolate and coffee
Taste: Wow.... This is a very smooth beer that has alot of complexity. Sweet malts with chocolate and coffee flavors. Finishes slightly bitter.
This would be a great beer on those cold winter nights

12 oz. can from South Bay Drugs. Pours opaque black with a small brown head that heaves a nice film on the top the entire time. Aroma of chocolate, raisins, roasted malts, coffee, hops, smoked meats, and berries. Flavor of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, bitter hops, dark fruit, and alcohol. This has a lot of nice flavors but doesn’t do much to mask the booze. Full bodied, slick, and oily. Rich, bitter, and roasty- and fortunately not too roasty or smoky. Nice beer.

12 oz can- Pours black with a great roasted tan head and decent lacing, aroma is chocolate and coffee. The flavor is exactly what I love in a Imperial stout, bold, deep, complex, I could go on and on, and it comes in a can! I just had Beer Valley Black Flag Imperial Stout just before this, and that beer sucked compared to this liquid gold, and Ten Fidy was a quarter the price, go figure.

I’m always at war with big stouts and which ones are better than others. This one just got moved into the top 3 for stouts. It’s got a dark syrupy pour that has an aroma of chocolate, coffee, and subtle hints of oats(just as the description suggests) The 9.4%ABV is not overpowering at all, which makes it that much more enjoyable.
