Oso First Anniversary Dank Imperial Red Ale

Bottle… Pours murky burnt-orange with a small, creamy, off-white head. Decent retention. Dank, earthy, woody nose also provides cherries with undertones of caramel and vanilla. Medium to full-bodied with modest carbonation. Tangy, caramely, woody flavor leans only a smidge toward the bitter side of balance. Astringent, moderately bitter, Mojave-dry finish. Unique beer. I can’t quite figure it out, but it’s certainly enjoyable.

Murky mahogany with a slowly fading tan airy head. Aroma of nuts, toffee, caramel, vanilla, oak and mild funk. Some alcohol does creep in, but overall a pleasing concoction. Taste of rich caramel and vanilla, oak, tannins, raisons, cookie dough and perhaps a hint of chocolate. Mild sourness that leads way to a hint of hops and sugar on the back end. Some alcohol warming. Pretty much just a malt bomb, but a pretty good and interesting one at that.

Bomber thanks to Bob! Poured clear, fiery reddish-orange with a short cap of beige head.. cool color to it. The aroma had sweet caramel and biscuity notes with significant overtones of fruity vinegar (some of this may have been from the barrel, but it seemed a little too sour).. vanilla, brown sugar, and a hit of floral around. The flavor opened with tart red fruit skins and oak, with chewy biscuits, aged caramel, and sweet vanilla rolling onto the middle.. the oak eminated outward and carried through the finish along with vanilla and caramel.. tasty, but a little rough. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation on the palate.. a little sour for my liking, and it didn’t flow quite right, but there was certainly good stuff in there.

22oz bomber shared by riversideAK. Pours a deep mahogany red with white head that circles the edge of my glass in a ring. Nose is very heavy on the sweet bread malt and very light hop resin. Palate is creamy with decent carbonation. Taste is more malty and sweet than I was wanting and not enough bittering hops. Easy drinking for 9% and glad to try. I was just looking for a more ’in your face’ aroma with a name like Dank.

22. Thanks, Riverside! Pours crystal clear gorgeous rubied color. Light, thin, but creamy gray film. Great big biscuity and chocolatey nose. Creamy medium body. Chocolate, biscuit, and cherries on the mid-palate. Tastes truly like a cookie, more than any beer I have ever had. Mild sweet finish.

Ruddy copper color with a smallish lid of beige bubbles. Earthy caramel and toasted whole grain bread aromas. Hints of fruit in the background with melon, mango and dates. Caramel and fruit coated malt flavors. Hints of peat, and earth, nuts and light fruit. Some raw qualities, but an interesting brew. Part, barleywine, part american strong.

Courtesy of Skyview. Dark brown color with a thin head. Aroma of walnuts and spices. Nutty, dry, malt flavor. Strong oak and vanilla. Plenty of caramel malt. I really enjoyed this one.

Thanks to Skyview for this one. Roasted nuts. Very dry beer, with malt and mild hops. Light red color and very low carbonation. It is well crafted but the dry malt isn’t for me.
