Commercial Description:
This pale ale is generously hopped yet balanced through the use of Munich and Crystal malts. Hops added after fermentation gives this American classic an intense aromatic bouquet. Enjoy!

12oz bottle (2009) into a pint glass. Pours cloudy orange with an enormous khaki head (don’t straight pour this for long). The aroma is hoppy and resinous, but it’s also a bit soapy. The flavor doesn’t deliver the hops as much. There is some malt and a hint of bitterness with sweet citrus hop flavor, but overall it’s a bit weak and watery.

12oz bottle. Medium thick orange-brown color, minimal head. Sweet balanced aroma. Medium bodied. A pretty nice pale ale, with some taosty caramel maltiness backed up by a solid earthy hop bill. Earthy and sweet aftertaste. Mild bitterness, but solidly hopped. Smooth, easy, and classic while still displaying it’s quality ingredients.

Had draft @ the brewery and then several bottles purchased there. Rating is an exact average of the two, as they were wildly different in quality. definite demotions for the bottled. Aroma is nice carmael malt with a really pleasant sharpness. Flavor (draft) was outstanding crisp and citric hops well blended with the caramel and toffee malt. NOTE - BOttled version suffers a lot in both aroma and flavor. There’s a rotten vegetable/metallic sourness in thebottled form (and these were pretty fresh bottles) that renders it distinctly unpleasant. ----- Draft = Really good, bottle = almost offensive at points. Wonder if they bottled a bad batch last month.

Sample at the brewery. Orangish pour with a thick white head. Light hop aroma. Taste was similar, more light hoppiness, didn’t linger very long, good drinker.

Pours a dark amber color with a beige head. Aromas of sweet caramel malt dominate the aroma with wiffs of citrus hops peeking through.Flavor of malt and citrus hop that end in a nice bitter finish.Body seems to be a little watery and thin.Noticeable diacetly flavor hidden in there as well. Not bad,but not fantastic. Thanks for the bottle Brewblackhole!

Bottle courtesy of wife. Aroma was pale not much there some citrus. Copper body with white head. Decent citrus and some pine notes in flavor maybe little to much malt in this one. Not as crisp as most little heavy.

Orange pour with white head. Smells like styrofoam and maybe a slight impression of hop. Stale malt flavor with a weird aluminum note. Kind of like eating a metal can coated in shit. This is like a really horrible homebrew. I have five more of these in the fridge. FML.

12oz bottle, no date from GeneralGao--thanks Colin! Clear orange with a one finger staying creamy off-white head. Oh man, the amount of diacetyl is awesome in this! There’s that, and some buttery caramel, and a hint of sweaty Cascades. Flavor doesn’t have quite as much diacetyl, but there’s still plenty to be had. Semi-dry with bitterness around a 3. Medium body with low carbonation. Not a terrible beer, but I wouldn’t pay for it.
