This beer was one of the worst beers I’ve had in quite some time. The beer looks great with a copper body and a rich creamy white head. That’s where the beer begins to fall apart. The aroma is heavy on the butterscotch and buttered veggies. Heavy buttered flavor. Thank goodness I only had a sample as this was a drain pour.

| 0.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 1/20 | Dec 29, 2009 This will be the first poor rating that I’ve given to a beer. I feel compelled to. It was God awful! Tasted and smelled of olives and barnyard. Could not get past this. Maybe a little smoke flavor. gws57 (1151), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Dec 26, 2009 Had this one bottled thanks to Slothgar! Hazy, light orange pour with a thin, wispy white head, balanced nose of smoke and grass, very unusual flavors ... smoke predominates. The beer equivalent of Malort. Choked it down. I like the gutsiness of this beer but I don’t know if I will get this one again. Skyview (4111), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 17, 2009 Received a single 12-oz bottle via trade with Ughsmash. Pours a semi-hazy amber colored brew with a thick and rocky off-white head that has some excellent retention and sticky lacing. Aroma of smoked peat, caramel malt, floral hops, a hint of rye and campfire charred wood. Taste is medium bodied, multi-personality going on with a profile of a smoked malt, some pumpkin, cinnamon, a touch of nutmeg and some peat. Finish has a smoked peat (plastic bandage) and slight pumpkin aftertaste that leaves behind a dry peat aftertaste. Definitely not your typical nor average Pumpkin ale. This has to be the first smoked pumpkin ale I’ve encountered. nimbleprop (951), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 3, 2009 Bottle shared at the DC Local tasting. Pours a translucent orange, brown with a creamy slightly off white head. Aroma is mild, some brown sugar sweetness, a little earthy, some smokey cherry, a little wood. One person remarked, "smells like a hardware store." Flavor is smokey, cherries, peaty, fruits, wood. Active carbonation. Nice, fruity finish. argo0 (7032), Washington DC, USA

| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Pours as a clear copper with a thick, white head. Subtle pumpkin aroma, sweet malts. ooo, the rye flavor jumps out, over powers the rest. The pumpkin is hidden in there. Light-medium body. I’m not a rye guy, sorry. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Pours a hazy copper orange with a frothy, clingy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of smoky phenols, cherry and treated lumber. Starts with an average fullness and some earthy smoke and grassy hop before a dark fruity grapefruity finish. A pretty unique and interesting brew, but could use fewer phenolic characters. esjaygee (1600), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 12, 2009 On tap at Sugar maple. Hazy pumpkin orange with a medium off-white head. Aroma of nutmeg, pumpkin, sweet malt and spices. Taste of nutmeg, cinnamon, mild pumpkin, light fruit and yeast. Finishes up semi spicy. Nothing really stood out either way.
