Fun aroma ... tease of the pine forest. Equally entertaining flavors ... nice syrupy hoppiness, almost a nutty maltiness and a bit of whole wheat bread. Fuller backbone than many IPAs, but still has the hop kicker. Nice. Kinz (2205), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 6, 2006 Not a big Otter Creek fan, never have been, even since the early days when they were one of the few craft beers available. But I’m off my own norm (and the site norm judging by the other ratings) on this one. Medium orange amber, decent head fades into a small ring. Aroma was toasty with a bit of orange, very inviting. Some really nice malt flavors come through here, toasty and biscuity, plenty of depth. The hops, while there, aren’t particularly assertive, just a pleasant citric note with an emphasis on sweet orange flavors. Smooth, perfectly balanced palate. This wasn’t a hop bomb by any means, and didn’t have what you usually look for in a "modern" IPA, especially from the US. But it was a truly excellent beer to my humble palate. Flavor is sweetly malty, with a resiny backup. Bitter, resinous finish - a real pleasure. TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA

I’ve been drinking this brewery’s beers since it opened its doors, and I was happy to sample this beer to mark a real milestone in Otter Creek history. 15th Anniversary IPA pours to a beautiful, bright, copper color, with a thick, creamy, white head, and a good bit of carbonation. The nose on this beer is pleasing, with some nice citrus and floral hop aroma, paired with some sweet and grainy malt aroma. Palate is firm, with good pale, stewed, and grainy malt flavors. This beer finishes with more, good, solid malt flavor up front, then ends with a pleasing, citrus hop bitterness that lingers. Good hop aroma, a very good malt palate, and nice hop bittereness, made this a very tasty, very enjoyable beer. Seems to be a hoppier/maltier version of Copper Ale vrs a AIPA hop monster, and has more in common with traditional British IPA. Hop heads will find this one a bit of a let down for an IPA, but not fans of Otter Creek. Otter Creek has never been a brewery to do over the top beer styles, and has always brewed very good, very flavorful, soild, drinking beers. Some beer geeks will find this beer to be a snore, but I think they don’t get what Otter Creek is all about. I get it, and I loved this beer. Here is to 15 more years! Aroma is lots of medium hops-bitter and equal medium malt-toffee, although not quite balanced, alcohol. Taste is lots of medium hops-bitter and balanced with medium malt-toffee. Taste is better than aroma. OK carbonation.
