Commercial Description:
A Winter's Ale is craft brewed in the tradition of a mild scotch ale. The rich flavor blends a pleasantly sweet caramel maltiness with mild hops. Refreshing yet warming, it is a perfect accompaniment to a brisk winter day. Available from November to February.

Wanted something a little meatier here. Still, a nice blend of light spices and malt in a full body. "Good beer" says Brad.

Not much winter is going on in this beer! Malty nose, amber-red body. Grainy taste. Creamy.

Dark ruddy brown hue. Aroma of orange peel, light earthiness. Smooth velvety mouthfeel, subtle smokiness, caramel, sticky and sweet in the finish. Decent but not extraordinary.

A good winter ale. I had this on draught. The head dissapated quickly, and I don’t recall much in the way of lacing. But the flavor was comendable. A good mix of spices. It went nicely with my fish and chips.

Had this one on draught at the Old Bag of Nails pub here in Columbus. Dark amber color with almost no head and very little lacing. Light malty aroma. Flavor was disappointingly thin, I was hoping for more malt and spice for a winter brew. Finish was thin and almost vinegary.

Starts promising with a hint of sweetness, then gets sour, thin.

Thicker malty-ness, some caramel and a little sour on the middle of the tongue. O.K. for a Scottish, but not heavy enough to call it a winter ale.

Probably my favorite Otter Creek brew. Not quite as malty as I’m used to with a scotch ale, but definitely a welcome change. The hops are clearly defined under the not-too-heavy maltiness. I’m not big on malty, roasty beers, so the hops added exactly what I was looking for. Subtle notes of spice and flowers. No one else seemed to like this, but I thought it was great.
